I am curious to see why everything has to be based on euro as far as I was aware it was a Korean reject that never got the care it needed to make it the way it should be.

So in that case wouldn't it be better if we made things the way they should be and not how they where on euro. Which ended along time ago so lots of things will be fuzzy about it anyway.

Balance wise up until the last 2 patches, I'd say yes. It was pretty damn near perfect. Near the end it just got ****ed up, wizzies became dominant with FlameField etc.

But that's just balance wise. In terms of a game itself it was very stale, but we're talking years ago. Now we can come up with new more exciting ideas, but we base the core of the game off of euro.

Making things how "you" want it to be is how you define your server, and if it's good, you'll get usercount.

It's all we knew... So to us, it was perfect as we have nothing to compare it against.

Euro wasn't perfect and I'm all for things being changed to be better than (or just different from) they were there, however it's inevitably going to be used as a baseline when it comes to looking at things that may or may not be working as intended (and that's for the people who run this server to decide). Especially as part of the charm of this server is that it is very close to euro in overall feel.

far from it, most people have rose tinted glass's when it comes to mir as it was their first mmorpg, or they have yet to move away to try other mmo's.

when you've played your fair share of games you can easily pin point the problems with mir, but these people cant accept this, as its how wemade intended so it must be balanced right?

When people say "euro mir clone" what they really mean is something in between Euro Mir and Korean/USA. I've yet to see an actual 100% Euro Clone and it's unlikely that one will ever surface.

That's a bit vague. I am all for changing things to balance classes or make the gameplay more challenging or entertaining and absorbing. What would you say should be changed?

Early euro mir was balanced game because it was the original 'core mir' that was designed and tweaked as a completed game and it was perfect any way you look at it, within reason of course. But later additions like TreePath and Castle Gyiroong (sp) and PI patch were more or less additions tacked onto mir and didn't fit in from overall game balancing and game logic view. This is not to say that in themselves those patches weren't OK, they just didn't mesh well with the mir as it was previous to those patches.

To make things balanced, every major patch would require some changes made to the whole previous mir game to re-balance it all together again. But that was never done by koreans, they just tacked a patch onto mir without doing anything to it (no drop files changes, no experience changes, no nothing)

As Kinneas says, euro mir wil always be a baseline against which everything will be compared because we know it more or less worked then. I myself am all for improving on euro mir, going beyond it (I made a post a while back full of ideas on this), but that doesn't mean I would like to start completely fresh, without any reference to anything.

Lapta did an exact euro clone, you could even transfer you char there with a screenie proof of ownership. Lot people went there but it closed when an "official mir" opened(USA mir and what a scam that turned out to be)

Not able to check but think USA made more money out of the players than any other server ever. I didn't say Laptas was good I said it existed in response to spacemonstar.

This.

When you have nothing to compare it to, you're going to think that it was perfect. Yeah sure there were a few things that weren't all that good, but at the time that's all we knew and we thought it was best thing since sliced bread. Most servers just use Euro as a base.

Euro was wasn't perfect but it was good , also due to game networks lack of quests/events & content updates it went stale and people left to play private servers etc ....
