I don't know how you people think wherever your from, but here in the good old US of A, we have a little thing called "common sense". Don't put electronic things in water. Never a good combo. And yes, phones have been made to withstand a few drops of water, but to submerge something into water or to make it soaking wet is a different story. My old blackberry 7130c was talked to in the shower, the pool, and even a light rain. Did it ever malfunction? No. It's all about the phone you get. Of course manufacturers aren't going to make phones designed to be waterproof, that would be too expensive and a waste of time. Use common sense.

Thats what im trying to say but people have a answer for everything lol.

a phone is ment to work in many different place's climates/ temps

or there would be no use for it,

if you open up the back of your fone there should be a white sticker that is what the phone companys go on its a water mark thing it turns a diff colour if its been submerged or if water has got into the battery area,

that is only on old fones cose mobile fone companys didnt think that people could replace them, so now they put them inside the fone under a load of screws (cover)

mobile fones are water proff to a limit, you submerge them for a few sec's it should be fine but let it dry out for 24 hours in an airing rooom and dont turn it on b4 then.

if its submerged for a longer time then deffo leave it for 24 hours with out turning it on or it will have problems, im not saying it will if you leave it but u stand a better chance of not shorting something out

Never had this problem but if I do use my mobile phone in wet weather I shield it with my hand, have always had Nokia :)

And yes it is common sense to protect your electronic equipment from water, moisture, etc.... :)

Ya Mums
completely see where ur coming from with this, it wouldn't happen to be a sony ericsson would it?

ive had tonnes of problems with mine and each time ive gone in or foned up its been my fault, now im not the most carefull of owners with my fone, sure its been dropped a few times but its not like i throw it off walls on purpose + surely they can take a few light knocks, get slightly damp, there are tolerance levels!!!

my sony erricson w810i been chucked at walls dropped all floors kicked bashed around had morer impacts then a normal phone in 10 years also dropped in puddles and still works tbh its practically indestructable but sonyerricsson have software bugs that cause em to lock up for no reason and reboot.

Working with phones on a weekly basis in my local phone shop allows me a little knowledge on this matter..

Its not the fact that they don't work in different temperatures, but the fact that being in a really cold room then going out into the boiling hot day can cause water damage to a certain extent.

Water damage isn't included in the manufacturers warenty as if you took a Laptop to a company and they found traces of water on it, they would also refuse to fix it, as would most / all companies.

Sony are actualy one of the best companies to be with to have your phone repaired by them under warrenty.

When you go into a shop they can either send it to a 3rd party place which charges the individual company, so if you sent a sony phone in, they'd fix it and charge sony, or they can send it to the actual place, Sony being this instance.

From past Experiences, from sending phones to Sony, they have come back in a excelent condition aslong as the damage is covered in warrenty.

If you think Nokia would be any better to go with, their actualy the most problamatic with software issues of all of the phones. The simple Nokia's are great, but touch a N series and your looking to spend alot of time away from your phone.

I'm with Bio on this, I mean what he's said is blaitently the truth.

Colonel, you said in a past post that "phones aren't able to take even a single drop of water" or something along those lines? whoever said that...? phones are able to take a little bit of water. What Bio's trying to say is that people who walk around playing on games etc on their phone while it's pouring with rain enabling them to get absolutely dripping wet, that's what breaks them. We aren't saying don't answer you're phone just because it's raining, just don't use it when it's raining for unnecessary reasons... like playing on games FOR EXAMPLE!

ok then Nokia 6280. They were one of the worst, my father even had 4 of them, befor Nokia decided to send a replacement handset altogether.

I think you'll find that half of the N series don't even have new technology.

The Sony K800i Matched N73 for camera, but the K800i was much faster in software, better for music, better camera imo.

Sony are the best on the phone market atm, excluding PDA's etc etc.

Guess the W810i is of better build quality than the W800i cos mine is shat

i dont see how 2, but my w800, the memory card slot doesnt take the card anymore, it just crashes the fone so it flashes white screen to off and vibrates constantly, it keeps flipping between portable hands free and normal profile when it suits it, sometimes doesnt let me make calls n stuff along them lines, random crashes etc

yet my m8s W810 just crashes every now and again and has taken a far worse beating than mine, which is the case for JB 2 =\

Well obviously some phones can take water and some can't. Use common sense here, not all phones are made the same. I old blackberry took drops of water fine. Phones are like cars, some are faster than others, some fold up when you crash them, and some don't. But they are ALL made differently.

I've got the same model, got it about a month after they were released. I get the odd crashes with it for no reason, but its not quite as far gone as yours lol. How long have you had it for ?
