No private server should have a donating system for items. Back in the old days and this goes for any game a donation system for a private server would get laughed at. It ruins the whole purpose of a private server imo, ruins the whole feeling of the game.
Why pay for items on a private server which will ALWAYS go down maybe after a few months or a year if lucky when you can go play the original Mir and pay for items, i know i would feel alot better donating on there then a private server.

All 4 major servers that actually lasted a bit had tons of donations.Just a coincedence i guess ye?But suppose those euro-clones with 4users and 2x exp were better!!!
Now then, I can give you quite a few reasons why as of late donation servers get off the ground due to people use the money on the server, Ben does exactly this and his servers been going for a good year + now possibly longer I believe? Don't quote me on this it's from what I can recall.
Whereas other servers get money, then scarper. It's not too suprising the matter it comes down to is whether or not you can trust the money to go to good use. For example I wouldn't use my money on a server which was posted by an LOMCN leecher.
However a high poster, one that's been around for a fair amount of time you've got to know they're sticking around really. And the reason being of why buy items on a private server over retail, quite simple really, if you've played retail you know how much the GMs care there...

how much money did ppl put into euro mir over the years in subscriptions? i used to pay 3x accounts.. lets say 5 years (12 x5=60) x £18 (6 each) = £1080 i put into euro mir and it just went offline? was it a waste? no cause i had fun. same applys to priv servers
never sold any levels n 4heros
you dont have to donate to buy the pots, theres so many pots for sale u just save ur gold up and buy em..
Another great point, a server owning makin a few quid cares a gr8 deal more than a retail GM makin thousands

But when you donate on the orginal servers you know you are getting updates and not like the crap buged updates you get from private server owners. If you never had donated would you of not had fun?
of course Ben is going to keep his servers up long, aslong as $$$ is going into his bank account why the hell would he close it? lol, if donations stoped, watch a new server appear from ben. I could agree about donations helping hosting costs only after atleast year+ being up.
Look at DSM Woool, 4 years that lived until Mick made a little donation system and he only put that in because there was not alot of people playing so you could buy Gold, 4-5 years people had fun on that, ok not a huge usercount but atleast people had fun and everyone was even.
Yup. It was absolutely massive fun :drool1: What mistakes did you make? I didn't really notice many, if any big mistakes. Except from that event where you could get uber rares from those eggs, but then again, everybody had equal chance of it. I got a SOWG out of one of those eggs haha, was the only one ingame and I gave it to my mate :P

Also just reading through the rest, donating hasn't been a massive problem with me either, usually the people who donate are **** players anyway so it doesn't matter how good their items are or level. People are right, those who donate never gain an advantage over a set few players that basically just know what they're doing.
Going back to MR it was stupid lol when it first came out & he said there will be a wipe so you can all have free GG to see what you get if you donate then he would wipe & start again...

levelin was abit quick in some areas, ppl got to high level too fast and was nothing to do
drop files wernt rly done properly, there were a few we had forgot about and they got flooded ingame
stuff like tht rly, wasnt rly complete

bens done low rate(FH LR) > med-high (OS) > high rate(FH HR), whats left? Wool server or a super high rate? i do agree with fact if he wasnt making money he'd make a new server though whoever said that cba to quote
I mean OLDER servers where people made them for fun and not money or any intention on spending/getting money like you do now.
Not servers that came out just 2-3 years ago. (yes can exclude P69 from that) however that wasn't always a donation server.
Servers before 2.3 doesnt worth mentioning xcept Meteora(that was name i think) and RZ and both had donations.They were fun but cant remember one lasting over couple weeks/months lol
thing is, all the servers back then would go up on home pcs.. lag if it got over 30/40 users.. and normally go corrupt or go down within a month
at least servers with donations you know it should stay up for at least 6+ months and shouldnt be corruption.
well actually, scrap that as u got servers like elysian thats corrupt and takes donations :thumbup2:
and been numerous 1s like evilmir etc that take donations and go down after a few months

"we want high drops" no, again you think you do but then get annoyed when new kit has to be released bcus every1 is in maxx kit.
Which i could be bothered or afford to pay sum1 to make a server how i wanted it, would probably fail but in my head it owns

The thing with your servers though, I dont care if you *can* save cash and buy a 20x pot. All the top players did that. It doesnt matter, at the end of the day thats still £20 in your pocket, irregardless of who uses it.
Same with items - your drop rates are bare low, people save up cash or buy/sell and most items come from donations, last time i played you had just released furious kit and before it had even dropped once normally people were in full kit and selling it, because they donated £400.
Top players feed off the donators who have more money than judgement but nice try in disguising it by saying the top players never donated. True, but they geeked away for hours for cash, geeked PCs to PK on etc. Alot of income was generated from ParaLord and then just used to buy off donators. So your top players are all in donated kit / levelled off donated pots.

Dont get why that doesnt work for you.On every server you buy your kit thru cash u made somehow.Its irrelevant if its throu GP/quests/bosses/pking wotever.You never kit yourself thru boss drops u actually get.You got buy 90% of it from other ppl.Donators or not.Thats how mir always been.

Its not, but I just like showing Ben up in front of his fanbase for talking **** all the time, and not really giving a toss about anyone who plays his servers.
