Every1 would like a server constantly updated etc that would last 10yrs without donations.So no need to point the obvious.

Im just saying they aint as bad ppl make em seem.Good servers are fun.Bad servers are boring.Donations have nothing to do with it.

Why would you make a server for free? it would be like running a pub and charging trade price for the beer, u still have to pay rent and electricity bills.

thing is, all the servers back then would go up on home pcs.. lag if it got over 30/40 users.. and normally go corrupt or go down within a month

at least servers with donations you know it should stay up for at least 6+ months and shouldnt be corruption.

well actually, scrap that as u got servers like elysian thats corrupt and takes donations :thumbup2:

and been numerous 1s like evilmir etc that take donations and go down after a few months

old servers, new servers, they are all the same

I remember Devil server not being donation, WhIpLaSh not being donation and many others (yes these are the old one's I was on about)

Besides I prefer to play a server who DON'T accept donations over any donation server any day, corruption is on pretty much any server going even officials so that's never going to stop although people may swear blind they aren't.

But who's ganna listen to me when all people care about these days is money, money and even more money.

I agree with that, the point is drops and progress are so severeley limited unless someone down the line 'Donates' for something.

@Squall - Yeah of course, how you think I got so rich on euro.. at least there you earnt your kit, not lined the pockets massively of the people running it. Making a point, to be succesful like the people Ben loves to quote so much, you need to geek it for cash through PK/quests, and then buy off donators. A server shouldnt revolve around grinding cash to bu from donators who have got their wares for rl cash which is now in Bens wallet.

What would happen to FH is people would level off their 30 mins off gt exp per day, sit in sz rest of the time or boss hunt, get bored of nothing dropping and nothing to buy (And with no kit bosses take ages to kill or you need to group for), and quit.

Whereas on euro theyd just get on with levelling, bosshunt when they were bored, maybe get a lucky drop, maybe get several smaller drops to sell and buy what they wanted.

And the reason euro was like that was because it was p2p, you were forced to pay to play, even if you were going to sit in the sz all day and go for the odd fight.

Difference with FH and many new f2p games now, its entirely up to you if you want to pay. If you don't, the service is still provided free of charge. I suppose you disagree with USA Mir as well then?

Itd be easy to adjust the donation - item ratio on fh to 50-50 instead of 90-10. Youve said it before even, reason drop rates are so **** is so donations dont overflood server, well, limit donations so its not a p2p server?

It must be great for the few donators (Big £££ to throw away) and for you. Ultimately the majority that dont donate it gets pretty ****. And yes, USA was crap too.

Not immediately, but then once all currently paid servers started running out, we'd have to close them. Either host on a home computer where it would lag when it reached 40 users or find some idiots to host who would be corrupt and just steal the files.

Give it 2 weeks max like that, and you would be down to around 10-15 users.

Who are you to say how someone should run their server?
For christ's sake if you don't like donation servers, walk away and get on with your pathetic life, and leave everyone else to live their lives as they see fit.

Just sore because I told you your server sucked, and it failed epically?

Fyi I did walk away from donation servers, couple months after I did I found I got banned anyway for speaking the truth (Oh noes.)

Face it celc if you stopped donations, server would fold not because of maintenance costs - because 1/ without em hardly any drops would some in and people wouldnt level as fast and 2/ You guys would have 0 motivation to pretend to give a toss.

i dont disagree with donations entirely, i believe theyre good to help pay towards dedi's.
wot i do disagree with is what u can actually donate for, such as buying fully lvld + kitted out chars etc.

donations should do something like give u access to a test server with the latest updates on (but not fully complete) so u have the advantage of finding out whats where first etc. n the exp pots are ok to donate for, just think its a piss take though when u start lettin people buy spells + items + full kits + lvls just because they offer u a few £ more then others

Dedi's give the server owners reason/excuse to ask for donations.

Would I put up a server on a dedi knowing it's going to cost ME money? No.
Why? Because why go for something you can't afford on your own.

Why on gods earth do people go to run a server knowing they don't have they're OWN money to pay for the costs and expect it off other people.

Enough said.
