Too many people complained at the idea so it won't be added anytime soon.
The vocal minority appeasing shouldn't be your only priority. Most of them have no idea what is necessary for the health of the server, and that should be your only priority. If one vocal whiner quits over the change, well frankly good riddens, if it makes the other 95% more likely to enjoy themselves and continue playing. Frankly the only reason against this is the "I didn't have it, so neither should they" argument, which is frankly just greed and selfishness.
Personally, I think it would be a good change. It's a huge cash sink, which is always a good thing. The less the high levels have compared to the new players farming low level caves the better as it means they sell kit cheaper. The better the gear on low levels, the more likely they are to continue playing through the pking/abuse the high levels do. Since you have no real catchup mechanics, they are never going to be able to compete with the 50+s, so anything you can do to keep them ingame is likely good for server health. There's good reason every new mmo has had catchup mechanics inbuilt, if not complete gear resets like WoW expansions. Obviously all the high levels will bitch at any system to remove any of their strength vs the new players, but quite simply they aren't interested in having a healthy server. They'd rather be kings of a dead server than being challenged anyway.
