4. Lastly, why not grab the files yourself and set up a server?
2. You mention a line speed of 2 4 or 8, this I would suspect is the Download and not the upload. Nobody cares how fast you can download your porn, what they want to know is how much upload you have NOW, not what you can get at some point later.
willing to host only JOB or 3.38 specs are 4.22ghz 2gbram upgradable 2 4 8mbline

lol i think you should read again....
what hes trying to say is;
willing to host only JOB or 3.38 specs are 4.22ghz 2gbram upgradable to four. 8mbline
ROFL
but just 1 thing, if he did overclock his computer, it might be 4.4Ghz (even though I highly doubt it)
well he could live in Alaska :PIf he can overclock an Athlon x 2 4200 to 4.2 Ghz he is a living in an icebox and is called Dr.FreezeSimple Marketing Speak, easier to sell a machine billed as 4.2GHz then saying its 2.2Ghz x 2 as most punters go for the fast numbers on the adverts.
Nope not a guess, i used to work for BT. The max upload on anything under 10mb was 768kbits, on the 16mb it was between 512 and 1mb but this also depended on what time you was on and also how many others where on the same pipe.I am still sticking with the Athlon x2 4200
What the important fact anybody who wanted to know is going to use his servers are:
Maybe the Original Owner who made TWO posts on the subject and ignored the Sticky for this very purpose who somehow evaded the Mods (slackers) would like to come back online and make some comments or this thread should be deleted tbh..
- What is the Spec of the PC
- He has answered this to a degree and we also agree it can handle Mir3 Server.
- Is this machine for the sole use of running the server or is this the only machine he owns.
- We have not found this out as he wont post any more info.
- What is his Upload Speed
- You have said Dr3AmScAp3 that its 768Kbits, is this a guess on your part?
- Is the IP a Static one, BT are bad for very Dynamic IP's
- If the IP Changes all the time, going to have fun running a server on that line.
- How will the Owner of the files be able to remote control and make changes?
- Maybe they send him files and he apply them?
I am sure you meant 256KB Upload as this page Shows:
http://www.cable.co.uk/providers/bt-broadband.html
just to the knowledge, there will be no 8 cores processors, the next generation after 4 will be 16 :>You also have to remember about the quad core as well, or maybe even the 8 core processor, though its not likely he will have ne of these seeing as they are very very pricey.

and the quad cores are not that expensive btw, they cost like xeon computers I think, dunno if it worth the price though.
You really dont know much do you Data. Uk adsl lines go upto 16mb which have the caperbility to upload at upto 1mbits and then you have the adsl2 which is 24mb down and can ether be 1.4mbits or 3.4mbits upload speeds.UK ADSL has never been a 768kbps upload.
488kbps for adslmax
256kbps for non-max
Bonded-ADSL can get higher (but thats a hax) as can leased lines.
Dr3AmScAp3: You're trying too hard to look like you know what you're talking about.
You will see that they will jump from 4-16, no point to go to 8.Actually there all ready is 8core processors which have been created
http://www.internetnews.com/ent-news/article.php/3563781
And the quad core chip, for a decent one runs at about £500. So you telling me thats cheap.
