I should think it will run nicely, for win8 get the start menu as I told you and configure your machine to boot directly to desktop, then that '8 stuff' will only be there when you need/want it. In many ways win8 is good/great improvement over 7, it might even run progs and games faster than 7

And get 8.1, its worth it and is free.
