if its actually deleted the files and not just corrupted them you could always copy the system folder from another computer using the same OS i suppose.

i depends how they have been deleted, if the virus as litteraly just deleted the exe files then it would work, however if its moved them and changed the registry it properbly won't.

out of interest, it wasn't a virus that pretended to be a windows firewall, and blocked access to your internet, and removed most of your programs and folders? If so i've had that, and the files arn't actually gone, just hidden, you can download a program to unhide all of the apps.

this is the viurs i mean,

Yer it was that, they never deleted the files just basically removed the shortcuts which i never realised at the time and i uninstalled the windows components then forgot you need the CD to install them again. Wasnt the WindowsRecovery thing, it was somthing simular though which blocked access to the the internet and stoped all programs from running, can't remember what i had to do to delete it.

I restored most Accessories tools now and my other computer has Windows7 on it and this is XP, not sure if you can move the files from that onto this.

nah if its not the same OS the files will be different so won't work.

i've had that stupid virus twice. First time as i wasn't sure what it was it was an annoying fix to restore my files, but second time found out its fixable if you boot in to safe mode and system restore as soon as you get it.
