Using virtual servers on a NAS or SAN is the way to move forward these day, it give you the opertunity to have more than one server running from one machine and allows for quicker config against servers especially for SQL and other heavy database servers.

I love using Vm as I have two 2003 Servers running at the same time, one for my data server and the other is my media server. No problems with either and easy to config if they bugger up.

Yeh when i used them a couple of years ago i found they was abit slow couldnt really host a mir2 server from one. However i guess they are handy if you have a quad core cpu dedi.

We use Virtual machines at work, we will have around 1000 members of staff using them eventually.

They dont work as well just yet, but once you get past the teething stages they are very good.

Reason I want a virtual machine is to run server files on an XP system rather than Windows 7
