Hey guys having a little trouble with my laptop, Its on windows vista home premium, Basicly when i start my laptop up then login ill be waiting a good 60-200 seconds before all my desktop items load? Anyone have this problem and know how to fix it?

Its a duel core 1.5 ghz with 2 gig ram i do not see specs causing the problem.

Cheers,

Yeah, I got rid of norton, stopped most of my startups, and cleaned my desktop, pc ran sweet, need to clean again though.

Do you have the vista side bar up with the opacity effect on? Take if off if you do it will eat up resources.

Hmm cheers for the replys people, Sorry about the lack of info it was early and i had to go to work!

I dont use the sidebar (never have)

I do have a fair few things on my desktop but nothing windows xp struggled with. I have had this installation for a few months however i did expect it to last alot longer, I find formatting the same hard drive lots of times causes errors with the drive itself. I dont have norton, I use AVG Free which seems to do the job fine i also have no spyware, adware or viruses that AVG is aware of.

Im debating going back to windows xp, Its just a pain really though to say the least.

Cheers for the help / advice

I hardly ever shutdown my laptop, sleep mode ftw. 2 seconds and poof! back to the login screen pre-loaded :D

I have hardly anything on my desktop but still takes about a minute to load everything.
