Not once have i had confilcts with drivers or software. People said software wouldn't work such as AppLocale i ran it fine. Mir and WoW have problems? Nope. Its fine and i have not yet come across any confilcts or problems running anything i wanted. What exactly have they got wrong? Creating an operating system thats used by most of the world?

Don't get me wrong it could have improvements but i think it was launched better than XP but i only went for it after a few months once it was released.

Right now, i prefer to use XP, and i will continue to do so untill my games are able to work on Vista. Roughly 80% of my CD-ROM games aren't compatible with Vista, and i actually enjoy playing them, and i'd rather not run 2 PCs, when i can keep just the 1 and play all my games.

Vista is good, but not good enough for me to be switching just yet

vista doesnt work with either of my 2 wireless network cards, tried knocking off ip6 and some other options etc, still keeps dropping packets everywhere

also had a lot of trouble with "older" games and vista, most newer ones ive installed work, however using DX10 is crap atm.

Can't go wrong with vista ultimate.

XP sucks.

Creating an operating system thats used by most of the world?

I remember the same comments being made 5 years ago when XP first came out, then after a while XP was the OS of choice. Vista is only another natural prgression in the PC based OS line, but its like everything else it will in the end sort itself out. XP, for me is rock solid.

It has took 5 years to lock this OS down to what it is, and despite how many new features Vista has, it will never be as good as XP currently is for a few more years now. A service pack at least, if not 2.

Ive tried Vista yet my machine now runs XP. Why, because im a noob or a muppet and cant it working? No! Because my machine isnt upto to the job? No! Im running AMD X2 64 4200, with 2GB RAM & a GF8 8600 GT card! Its because not everything I like to play works, and untill it does why do I need a flashy looking OS as apposed to backwards compatibility.

I want an OS thats going to play what I like to play, not quirk up cos im trying to install slightly older software. For that reason it is Vista that sucks and not XP. And to answer another comment, why the hell would I want to dual boot to get compatibility all round. The idea is 1PC, 1OS one set of installs. If I have to install 2 OS to get all round compatibility then, im sorry but thats a load of s**** in my opinion.

And Vista is still a minority OS to answer another comment. Quote pulled from the inquirer - "Of the machines visiting its website, which SunBelt assumed were primarily home users, Windows XP was still first with 83.90%, followed by Windows Vista with 9.38%, Windows 2000 at 3.59%, Windows Server 2003 with 1.62% and Windows 98 at 1.33%."

I've had vista since day 4 of it's release, awsome operating system, almost unfaultable. Only hardware conflict I had was with my bluetooth usb device, but thats only minor. All applications have run fine on vista, and if not you have the option to run in compatability mode which should work.

The biggest problem I had with it was the fact my copy was illegal, and my key only worked temporarly. I eventually managed to crack the operating system without reformatting, and has worked soundly ever since.

most of the security popups can be disabled from with in user accounts .

I like vista but i prefer the ease of use of XP, ie language packs for chinese and korean etc.
for some reason when i installed vista ultimate a game of mine thats an mmorpg wouldnt load up and keeps giving me a cod=110 and also gets stuck at the patch screen, apart from those small niggley problems its ok so far.

Vista will be good when they've used the public to spot all the errors and they've fixed them, in a couple of years time, for now it uses too much ram and even computer shop owners (the small ones not the likes of PCWorld who are contracted to use the current version of windows) "hate it" - yes that's a quote.

I'll be sticking with the tried and tested XP for a couple of years at least....maybe until they bring out the Vista Mk2 - without the bugs of the origional Vista ;)

I still much prefer windows 2000 pro to either XP or Vista. I just find the stability of 2000 much better after the computer has been left on for days at a time.

e.g. One of my computers has been on now for 14 days and 16 hours and is still running lag free as if it was just freshly booted up, I can leave my xp/vistas on for not much longer than 3-4 days without noticing a performance decrease, I find a full re-install of windows xp is needed alot more frequently than 2k pro as well. (and thats using disk defrag.)
