Hi on my new computer, when it loads up it says this, " Windows could not start up because the following file is missing or corrupt:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

"You can attempt to repair this file by using windows setup, using the original SETUP CD-ROM"

"Select "R" at the first screen to start repair"

That comes up all the time. I insert my windows XP disk in the cd-rom but the setup window does not come up, so therefore I cannot select R to repair it >.<

Anyone know how I can fix this, please!?

Thanks

i got that aswell abt a week ago, suspected it was a virus or something, just keep tapping "R" from the moment you turn your computer on.

two words(not counting ":"):

format C:

or insert win xp disk, reboot pc, keep hitting the 'r' key till it works. if not then go use ur comp as BBQ-wood tbh. (circuits burn very well, you will also get some nice fireworks due to explosions.)

check tht the cdrom cables are connected properly also try pressing F8 while the computer is starting up and then select ''last known good configuration''
