Just a suggestion, but would it have been possible when this was first flagged up and identified as a potential game altering bug to do the following:
- Identify the players who have benefited from how things were previously (at a rough guess anyone over a certain level at that point would have been sufficient). Gain an average of the levels these players are now above 33.
- Amend the monster DB so that players over the average get 1 exp from that mob(s)
- Notify the player base that from this point to say one in the following week that the monster will be amended back to normal exp and normal ai.
Maybe it's not possible to be exactly as clean cut as that, however I think that whilst this isn't a perfect solution it would at least have provided a bit of a balance to newer players and allowed them the same run as the older ones up to a point?
Sometimes its better to hold our hands up and admit something is wrong, allow some form of compensation and then move forward rather than just fixing things knee jerk style.
This isn't a critical post just a badly worded example - and before anyone criticises the examples of steps I gave for fixes are completely made up as I don't play the game!
