technically not unless your car insurance covers you for business travel - it's always a check box when you sign up to car insurance, if you just ticked personal and commuting might not be covered, if you ticked business then you will be.

This might be different if you're actually using a company car - as its likely the insurance has been done through the business too.

No I don't have business on my insurance. I always assumed that was for like if you used it on a daily/weekly basis for business purposes. I also assumed I could drive my car where and when the hell I want. Naive huh?! It doesn't matter anyway cos I always take a van or company car in said circumstances for fuel sake, but good to know... I think that's outrageous!

So I normally work in Norwich, but occasionally need to visit another branch for training, you saying I can't drive my own car there? Lol

Thats correct, unless you have business use insurance. SDPC (Social, Domestic, Pleasure & Commuting) would not cover you. Commuting is for driving to and from your regular place of work.

I don't live to far from norwich, where abouts are you?

i guess it's because if you're doing it for work and have an accident, it's your companies responsibility. To and From work doesn't count because you're driving outside of company hours.

And it saves them cash from not having to payout.
