Worth a ban?

Before we get started, I am perfectly aware that the server team has the right to ban anyone who they do not wish to have access to their game and they do not need to give any explanation if they do not desire.

After countless polite and coherent forum PMs with little to no response on the matter I have decided to make a thread and hope that no mods will lock/delete it. Recently one of my friends has been permanently banned for having the name Jihad John on a noob character, the reason that was given for the ban was the name alone and the offensiveness it carries, there was no prior warning, just a flat permanent ban. I can agree the name was of bad taste but I question why there is no consistency in the bans for example with characters called Taliban and AdolfCritler running about in game since day one.

My question is, do you think you should be permanently banned for a name that may offend someone?

In my opinion in this situation the culprit should have had 24 hours notice to delete and clear the char or risk a ban. I know this person he's not in my guild or a close friend but losing everything on that char was wrong.

It's the internet. Man the fk up.
Any name is fine. Lets be honest here, the people that play this **** game called Mir, have been around and seen far worst names.

Seems to be like a personal vendetta? Did the person banned kill the person who did the banning on another server? Unless who ever handed out the ban had a family member beheaded by Jihad John, i struggle to see what the problem is.

I replied to the person in question,
I banned them as I had a lot of reports about the name, it was/is a stupid name and they knew what they where doing, the fact they where running about in town asking people to join ISIS was the main reason for the ban.

I do not and will not have anything like that on a server I work on, a name is one thing asking people to join a group like that is totally different
