Ford Ka, hands down!

I learnt to drive in a C2, and i thought it was a really nice car, very nice interior, and in black it doesn't look that bad from the outside either.

I'm tempted to by myself a Suzuki Swift, purely because they look mint as fook!

The swift may be a bit plasticky inside for most people but it's a solid car and cheap to run, etc. Considered buying one myself :)

Clio is a bit light on the steering at speed and not really a motorway cruiser, otherwise good.

C2 is a cheap runabout for around town, suffers from the same as the clio on motorways/at speed. Depending on the model it can also be cramped in the back.

Wife has a Picanto, cheap on road tax/insurance, etc. and quiet on the motorway/at speed. I would recommend that. I'm 6ft and can comfortably drive it and get in the back, room for a labrador in the boot (with parcel shelf off). :)

Yeah I thought that. Bought a banged up 205. It was all good until some uninsured child decided to write it off for me. = No payout.

£3800 is quite steep for a first car, especially a 1.2 Clio, I'm assuming your parents paid?

I'm currently using a 1.6 Peugeot 206 I got for £1600, perfect condition and runs like a dream.

As far as first cars go mine was a 1.2 Corsa I purchased for £300, I also learnt in one which is probably what made me buy it, A very common and reliable beginners car I believe, It certainly treated me well.
