I know there have been many previous threads on this matter, but as the ISP sector is constantly competing for new prices and quality of service, I'd like some up to date opinions form LomCN members.

I am a very heavy downloader, so I have a 10MB Blueyonder Line, at £35 per Month currently. Its a Cable line, so the upload sucks at 'up to' 382kbs. (38KB/s).

I've never used ADSL so I might consider it if I get any positive feedback! I'm considering changing soon, so any response would be much appreciated.

State stuff like your ISP, your opinion, their quality of service, customer support, game pings etc.

Thanks!

ps - the only thing I'm not satisfied with about BY is their Upload :| Everything from customer support to game ping is great on this line >.<

Take it you're a Bluey too lol. Yea I daresay I'd leave this line, been with them for about 4 years now and I'd feel a bit insecure with another service

But if someone could really pursuade me! I'm paying like £55 a month for Supreme Package TV + Talk Evenings & Weekends + Blueyonder Broadband.

my number 1 that i have been with has tb be Freedom2Surf (www.f2s.com)

Out of the lot they are a bit pricey in comparason, but the money you pay goes into relyability and customer service. In 2 years i only had 2 scheduled service outing that was given 4 weeks notice before hand.

Your not gonna get better upload with ADSL, the upload on ADSL is 288kb/s.

Unless your lucky enough to live in one of the 8mbit trial places like london. (I think there is a 24mbit somewhere, but i aint too sure) Upload on these are ~700kb/s iirc, may be wrong there aint done much research into it (i dont live in one of the areas)

Your probably best staying with blueyonder, now that they have merged with NTL, and NTLs recent announcement that it is going to be trialling 100mbit services.

ps - In five years, my service has only ever been disturbed once with Blueyonder and that was anounced around 6 months prior (the upgrades :P). Most of BYs technical work goes on between 1AM-6AM, so like, if ever, only 0.1% of customers get affected - even then the work is like only once or twice a year.

had blueyonder 2mb at parents house, moved out n got ntl 1mb. not much dfference. other than a little more frequent work on the ntl line, and less busy periods than the BY had. fairly balanced overall.
