Been away for some years now, only ever seen screenshots of Mir1 dotted around lomcn over the years.

Boggles me people are saying " why bother " " looks crap " we're all addicted to some shite game from 2001, what makes them think the 1998 original verison wont hook you, i mean millions still play runescape looks kinda similar really. Beyond me why people wouldn't want to witness the history of the game.

I'd love to play, shame there no video of the original official Mir1, would of loved to have seen how it ran..

@Jev Good luck man.

I'm going to remake this as I don't really like how google translate has butchered the translated image.

Another butcher job. If you intend to use this, like on wiki or something, I would re-do it to have more consistent font size and not cut off parts of the screenshots.

Looks interesting,
I was thinking that the first LoMir game was the one released by Game Network on 2000? specialy becaue online sources say that WeMade was foundet on february 2000. So i asume that this Actoz company is the name before they became WeMade?

Poster also says Pentium 75 or higher, what sounds more like early 1992-94s to me, i mean... in 1998-99 we already had a Pentium 3 with 400-800Mhz avaible, it also says Direct-X , but 1998-99 we had already DirectX 6.0.

Does anyone have maybe a listed chronology of the Legend of mir Series games? or know a site where it is listed?

This wiki i pointing that the first one was released on 1994 - https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_Mir
But others point to 1998 ??? can it be that two different games with the same name was released? or just different versions?

That wiki link isn't talking about Mir 1 at all, it talks about Assassins which wern't in Mir 1 from our own research and the title says different things:

It says release date 1994 - so i asumed they can only mean the first one with the info on the right site,

but yea, the article itself is just a description about the service WeMade providet with the game and how they shut down in 2011.
If no one have it listed, so maybe for a game series chronology i will have t look for a company history article or something like that.

but, thx anyway :)

You have to go to the original English wiki
1730453313281.png

I don't think Actoz developed mir1, it is more likely the game developers didn't operate under their own company name and Actoz was only their game publisher. It is sort of like some private individual writing a book and then finds a book publisher to put it on the market. Probably we all know some pple who chose to 'self publish' with various results.

But sometimes publisher sponsors book writers before they even finish the book or like here, sponsors the game developers even before their game is finished (don't know if that was the case here, depends what contract they had). In that sense, Actoz could be seen as the game developer. In the case of book publishing, you always get writer's name on the cover, but here, if there was no game developer company to list on the box, it ended up looking like Actoz made LoM1.

So, as it says on that wiki, this group of pple who made the LoM1 and marketed it through their Actoz publisher sometimes the in late 1990s then made their own company called Wemade in 2000, so they could become a partner co. with Actoz co. in that lawsuit against Chinese Shanda co.

As it says, Shanda then bought Actoz to settle the lawsuit and Wemade published their next mir edition, LoM2, under its own name. I suppose they were well enough established by then to be able to make success of it, as seen in retrospect, they did.

As to the processor listed on the box, you always list the lowest requirement and sometimes also the recommended one, here it just says 'or higher'. In those days in Korea, most folks didn't have the latest in computing hardware (same as anywhere in the world today). Kids would mostly need to play from cafes, renting time on computers.

The earliest archive for the original Mir 1 site is 2000 I believe which is marked at the bottom with “Copyright Wemade”

If only we had an older archive to see what they would have used instead or maybe they just didn’t have that text before.

Acording to korean sources it seems like they actualy did, then they kind of created/hired wemade to take care of the Legend of mir's future development, but after the success of LoM2, they didnt want to pay the 30% share of the sales to Actoz Soft, so then a big lawsuit war between them happened. source: https://namu.wiki/w/액토즈소프트

It seems like the big confusion was because of the Digita Bros (Game-Network) release, because the name was just Legend of Mir: The Three Heroes, so... many have taken the version as the first game in the series, even gamefaqs says that version from 2001 as the first in the series (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/games/franchise/5375-legend-of-mir)

so after a little research, the draft releases chronology should look kind of like this:

Legend of Mir
(Release Chronology)
|
|
|- 1998 -|
| |- Legend of Mir (Release)
|
|
|- 2001 -|
| |- (actually a LoM2 version????) Legend of Mir: The Three Heroes (Release EU)
| |- Legend of Mir 2 (Release)
|
|
|- 2002 -|
| |- Legend of Mir 3 (Release)
|
|
|- 2009 -|
| |- Legend of Mir X (Release)
|
|
|- 2020 -|
| |- Jun. - The Chronicles of MIR (Release)
| |- Nov. - Mir 4 (Release)
|
|
|- 2022 -|
| |- Jan. - The Legend of YMIR (Tech Demo)
| |- Jun. - MIR M: Vanguard and Vagabond (Release)
|
|
|- 2024 -|
|- The Legend of MIR 2: Destiny (Android release)
|- Mir 5 (trailer released)

I hope it fits the reality of releases in the series, some sites are saying that LoM: The Three Heroes was released in 2000, and some say that it was released late in 2004, but most of the sites point to 2001 so i go with it until i can confirm it otherwise.

They might have meant EU release. Mir1 I take it ran only in Korea.

Would have to dig out screens from 2001 to see if it was called Mir2. I know the Dragon server ran in Beta in early spring and opened for playing in April, or thereabouts and then Phoenix server was added, I think in September, I started on it September 14th.

I found the CD with the client installation on the italian ebay site for sale, there doesn't seem to be an indicator that it's mir2

1730645185712.png
you can check it out here: https://www.ebay.it/itm/133542123177
also the old broadcast TV recording says just Legend of Mir:

The gameplay looked very similar, more modest of graphics through the recording i gues, the interface was different from Mir2 that i have known, so it sure fooled me, i was sure it is the first game in the series until i have seen what Jev posted, so thanx to him for that :D
