Tried it once, bricked my psp but got it repaired. When using homebrew there's a few things you gotta look out for like, if you open the back where you insert the umd and see writing on the top right of the motherboard, then dont use homebrew as it will brick your psp.

I don't see a single letter on the inside of my UMD drive.

Even so, I heard it's only the stuff that edits the flash that bricks your PSP.

Nope.. Any PSP with a firmware of 3.03 or below regardless of the motherboard can be downgraded.

Pyraine the flashing process is as safe as using sony's official updates

I always got the idea that depending on the motherboard your psp can or cannot be downgraded as almost all the sites I went on said that, but n/m. Also you PSP can still be bricked, this site should tell you almost all you need to know http://www.psp-hacks.com go onto the forums and check around there, it should explain everything. Also the EBOOT file that you have to put in the "PHOTO" folder is the downgrader isn't it? Because my PSP was bricked because of that. BTW there is a recovery file that if anything goes whilst your downgrading you psp or flashing it or whatever, then you can simply restore al your setting by holding R, try that before doing anything, just incase. Also its best not to flash.

No your PSP was bricked because you didn't follow the instructions correctly

The only way a PSP can be bricked is if the NAND Flash fails (It happens) or the User makes a mistake simple as that..

Yamma if you don't keep up with the PSP Scene you will fail behind very quickly it is one of the fastest moving scenes out there.

Great thing about the OE Firmwares is that the only way for it to brick is for the NAND Flash to fail thanks to the built in recovery menu

Basically, what I want at the moment is, a decent theme,I hate the fact you can't change your themes on 1.50, a decent browser, i don't know which to get and possibly some way to set mp3 files into folders, also something to hide those 'corrupt data' files that come with emulators, I have been told/know it's possible to do all of those

Can't find anything on 3.03OE only 3.02OE??

Also, in researching 3.02OE I discovered the only thing that seperates it from regular firmware is the ability to play iso's?

um...

How about

-Recovery Menu (System is damn near impossible to brick).
-Complete customization of the XMB (In 3.03OE not in 3.10OE).
-Faster loading times on games (By loading them off the memory stick).
-A countless amount of Homebrew applications and games/emulators.
-An almost perfect PS1 Emulator that isn't just limited to what Sony decide to give out.

Seriously anyone who updates to official firmwares while knowing what is available out there is a fecking idiot.
