Well the Numbers kind of Give it away :)

6600 GT is Old - So Worst of of the ones you listed.
7600GS do not buy this period.
7600GT - Best Bang for Buck

and after this - you have to make sure you have a PSU Capable of driving the card - so no use if you only have a 350W PSU like.

7800 best for Games..

BTW - what you gonna use it for? What Screen size you got (Res) as this will matter etc etc..

Well the card is for the games, I have a 1024 x 768 res on a FX 5500 card atm but i think and quite sure my monitor supports 1280 x 1024, my PSU is 400/450.

I asked because I seen many people say they have 6600 GT so asssumed that was better etc....

This limits you then as buyng from a Shop (PC World for example) gets you a lot less card for your money then say Online. For Example a 7600GT is like £60 online while it comes in at £99 in PC World. I will have a look around and see what Cards I can come up with the help you out for your Budget.

Why the hell not?

Not everyone has a Credit Card you know !!

Exactly, I only have a cash card and i dont work for medical reasons.

I just got my ram, but he didnt have no cards in stock, he only has two agp left rest is pcie which i cant have because my mobo doesnt support it, im upgrading one to two bits at a time when i can afford it so pcie will have to wait....after the card my next bit is my processor and mobo which is going to cost seen as i want a mobo whihc supports dual processer.

1.5gb ram at the moment, my mobo goes up to a max of 2gb so mobo is deffo on my upgrade list...

thanks demonic, your help is appreciated...

p.s my choice from this shop is either a ati 1650 512mb agp or a nvidia 7600 gt 256mb agp, but been told if it crashes i may need a 450/500 PSU whihc is about £22.

Would it not made more sense to upgrade the Motherboard first then the rest?? I can understand what your doing but in doing so will mean it will limit you to a AGP Motherboard when you upgrade you see.

7600GT will be fine and your PowerSupply will cope no problems.

Well for a temporary solution I gonna get card first as mine is really low end, then get the mobo at a later date, i can trade this new card in for pcie one later on at the shop in town so i may lose a bit of cash in it but not too much...

What is better 512mb ati card or a 256mb nvidia card?

About same as I thought its £11 more for the nvidia but reading that just concludes my assumption that nvidia is better....plus it supports shader model 3.0 whihc is partly what I need to run SC4 DA amongst fifa 08 and others.

Thanks demonic, you been a great help.

p.s quick query, can high lvl ish cards like 7600 cope with vsync, antialiasing & anisophic filtering? my card can never cope with it....

I'm afraid the 7 series cards aren't ''high class'' anymore. Year ago, roughly they were approximately top of the line, but now with 8800's etc just no :P. You wont be able to play the newest games setting the graphics to their peak but probably will be able to play them with acceptable settings.

Whoa Sparky - 7600GT cannot "Cope" with todays games at high level???

World of Warcraft 1680x1050 with all the titbits on.
Company Of Hero's - 1680x1050 with all the trimmings
C&C 3 - 1680x1050 all set to high
BF2 - Copes mighty fine.

Now what is important is what we call "Bang for Buck" - the 7600GT as many other cards are only DX9 --BUT-- half the time you cannot hardly see the difference anyhow. The 7600GT is the last card that can work with a "normal" PSU, this been your Average 350Watts - after this you require a much beefier PSU and probably connectors.

As stated, if buying Online, for that £80, you can get a much better card (ATI1950 for example) and above but in the choices given for "Now" then this card will suit the bill and Janae will be more than Happy with the end result - its Defiantly better then the ATI 1650 Model thats for sure.

Only the Latest Games does it start to get too low on the FPS at high Res and then we have to switch it down to 1024x768 or maybe 1280x1024 at a push.

The 7600GT is a very much acceptable card, these days.

As Demonic pointed out, it's still the sweet spot for price/performance, and it's more than capable of running modern games at a mid-to-high spec.

Avoid ATi cards like the plague. (This is coming from an ATi fanboy folks, so don't you ignore me). They eat far too much power, and under perform compared to their nVidia equivalents. While the X1950 would be a superior card, it would also be a superior heat & power drainer.

Janae - I fail to see how you cannot buy online. If you cannot work for medical reasons, you are likely over the age of 16, and so are eligible for a Visa Debit card from your bank.

Unless, of course, you're a benefit fraudster and don't wish to be putting money into the bank.

Perhaps not at full pelt, but at conditions definately playable.

No, you misunderstand. I'm not talking about a credit card. This has nothing to do with your credit history.

You simply take the funds you were going to use to buy the card, pay it into your bank, and request a DEBIT card. With a debit card, you can only spend what you have, thus credit rating does not apply.

Head down your local bank and pester them for a bit over it ;)

(Besides, I have a ****ty credit rating myself ;))

Ok ill try today, if shop has card in stock when i ring them ill do it when i go to get card.....they didnt have none yesterday so could only get ram still waiting on card....

Ill see what they say about it, id love a debit card it would make things so much easier and wouldnt have to risk endangering myself going into town each time....(that sort of explains how bad it is)
