Basicaly as i kno how much u all love my mini on here, figured as its been pissing me off all day id post up what ive managed to get done.

Basicly last summer i blew my gearbox up but managed to get my hands on a complete MG Metro with only 47k on the clock with FSH*Bargain price 2 =)*

Anyway that got the front end butcherd off it and sent off to the scrappers

The Mini Engine was pulled out(with a few cuts, bruises and use of foul language lol) and the MG Engine went in.

Now Simple i hear u all say, bolt in bolt out etc etc but due to my m8s coming round n fafffing abotu with the niggly things such as oil filter housings, rockers, gaskets, nuts bolts etc loads of shiz went missing.

after about 2 weeks of agro trying to find bolts, connectors stupid peices of paper i gave up on it

now the mini just sat on axle stands since like b4 xmas and was rly starting to bug me on the drive so i figured id start working on it again friday, so the hunt for stupid parts started again!

Friday, i managed to strip the carb, fanimoulds and head back off, check everythign was ok, torque it all back up and refit carb etc.

so Im feeling pretty awesome at this point 1st time ive worked on a car in months! this was short lived. i forgot to set the timing up!! bollox.

so after a wonderfull weekend of work, this morning i had a wonderfull trip to minispares on Oldbury to source some parts then back to work on her.

so off came the carb, fanimoulds and head again, timing was set, all was replaced. only thing tht changed was i used my orignal Head as the MG one needed the heater tap drilling and a lot of faffing about btu seeing as the Orignal head is identical i used this.

So on with the fitting of the oil filter, thermostat and heater tap... Or not

Ive still nto got the right bolts for the Rad, Thermostat and heater tap!! ARGH! anyway ive given up on the thing for 2day(back at it 2morrow thou, Poss get it started) and heres how she was looking the other day.

Very nice.

Engine conversions are always a pain in the arse but always worth it in the long run.

tell me about it lol, got a 1293 to build after this!!

Dark: blowing a gearbox and having to have it RollingRoaded over and over again cos of a duff carb and hoses kinda grinds u down but it will be back lol

Bestbet: Funny...

Nice board, hard to tell from the photo but I'm guessing between 7-8 ft with some nice FCS fins, I'll take a shot in the dark and go for Glass Flex M-5's?

Also It's probably just the photo but your rails look like they are made out of foam, especially around the nose, more pictures please!.

I just purchased a 9'6" Robert August, honesty the best ride I've ever had and it catches every single wave <3, perfect for the crap we get down in Saunton/Woolies.

Looking at a fish as well, I hear good things about them although I should probably have a go on one before buying.

:middle:

EDIT: Also I have thought about attaining an old mini, however I am told they require a lot of maintenance and are prone to lots of rust, true?

RE: the board, no idea sorry its my m8s, im gunna try my hand at surfing this year thou i think, the sea is just so bloody cold thou!!!

RE: the mini, well yer they rust like mad but nothing decent care shudnt be able to maintain, as long as there washed often(inside arches etc 2) there not 2 bad, and properly looked after( waxoyled, undersealed) there not 2 bad, i mean mines been sitting on the drive since 06 hardly used and its not bubbled but not rusted through( and my paint job is a **** 1)

engine wise, as long as u look after it, dont thrash a stock engine, service it at proper intervals it should have no problems, although saying that, i used to rag the beans outa my greenie 998 day in day out with out a hitch, its just the luck of the draw really, this 1 had always been a pain with engine stuff.

i kno Auron has a mini knocking about, and i think beard had/has 1 2, Awesome little cars, cant beat them, the scene is pretty good 2 =)

said your selling your quattro on ur msn name, how come? by the pic it looks decent.

would rather spend the money on the mini, insurance isnt dirt cheap and it costs a fortune to run in petrol.
