Im surprised there's no thread for this yet... (unless im blind)

Ok, he's not officially taking over from Bush for 2 months ish. But still Obama won. A time for change is definately required, and here it comes. (we hope)

I would have loved to have been in Chicago last night.

Hurrah Obama! :agree:

Who want to start a book to see how long it will be before he is assasinated.

There have all ready been 32 failed attempts on him, this will now increase.

But nice one on Obama getting it, about time America had someone with balls.

Taking over at a time of coming recession? i think unfortunately hes gonna have his boots full with the financial state rather than a world changing one. I also think that people think he will be 'world changing' because hes the first black president, maybe 60 years ago or more he could have done something astounding for black people but nowadays worldwide i think its not much of a problem but in america of corse he can do alot.
A world changing political figure nowadays would have to be one who could tackle the biggest problems of nowadays such as failing economies, moral governments instead of financial governments and the main 1, climate change.
So imo hes got the same chnce as every other president :P

I mostly read posts, I don't post too much anymore. And my brother (urban) moved on from LOMCN. He doesn't even game anymore. He is focused on graduating from college.

Yay for Obama, I wonder what Urban and Bio's views are.

Obama will most likely be assassinated within the 1st year of him taking office, if not within 2 months.

I voted for McCain, it was pointless due to the fact I live in California and it is a democratic state.

Obama's views are socialistic, especially the "wealth distribution" idea. Look it up on wikipedia and you will find that it is used by socialism and communism. The same method is being used by the President of Nicaragua, and that isn't going to well. He got most of his votes from lower and middle class people because of his "wealth distribution" idea, therefore he won. It was a landslide win in the electoral votes but in the popular vote it was only 52% to 46%.

All he says is we need "change" but gives no real ideas about change, he doesn't have a secure exit strategy of Iraq to insure Iraqi freedom, he has no idea what to do about our poor economy, and he is most of all inexperienced. He is only 47 years old for heaven's sake.

Canada doesn't sound bad for the next 4 years.

On a better note, gay marriage is now BANNED in California. Hooray. =]

Did you get bigger muscles than him and he huffed or?

No. We just don't talk much anymore. Nothing too much in common. He is busy with his own life too. He is focused on graduating from a university and he is getting married next year. I don't live with him so I rarely talk to him. Maybe once a month.

I really don't know why you are so angry, but let's calm down. You don't live in America so you can't possibly know how it is.

1. All taxation has been the same here, no matter what class you are in. Now Obama wants to change that. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_redistribution If you notice it says: "whereas communism and socialism typically use involuntary methods such as taxation and nationalization of property." Last time I checked the high class doesn't asked to be taxed more than the middle or low class, hence "involuntary". If you look under "Forced transfer of wealth" it says: "Some methods for this are: welfare, nationalization, taxation, or socialism." KEYWORD SOCIALISM. Also, can you please give me a list of countries that do this? Besides communism countries like Cuba and China of course. I can name one right now as a matter of fact. Nicaragua, like I stated before. I've personally been there and it really sucks there. It's the 2nd poorest country in the western hemisphere. The President, Daniel Ortega, had similar speeches to Obama. Since almost all of the population in Nicaragua is low class, he said he would "distribute the wealth"...hmmm sounds familar. He was elected back in 2006 because all the lower class people voted for him of course. He started by taxing the high class big time, but now he is making a law where if you own more than one property, the one you don't live in gets seized by the government. That kind of sucks. I'm not saying that will happen in America, I'm just saying what "wealth distribution" leads to, and the socialistic idea it is. Oh and of course, TAXING SOMEONE MORE THAN SOMEONE ELSE IS WRONG. If I make over $250,000 a year, a lot of that money goes to welfare and other government sponsored funding for the people. Yeah, that kind of sucks too. I don't want my hard earned money going to a cracked out hoe.

2. I think I know what communism and socialism is.

3. Can you give me some ways Canada is socialistic? Because I really don't think free health care is socialistic, considering almost NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD DOES IT.

4. Gay marriage is now banned, look it up. it wasn't sarcasm. Proposition 8 was passed and now says that the constitution of marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

5. You don't live in America, so you seriously can't complain.

The socialist label given to Obama was presented by the opposition to deter votes, there's no solid reasoning behind the claim other than a few factors which in any national agenda could be linked to any given 'extreme'. They could have accused him of being a closet communist too and those of the public that want to lap it up would.

And why do most of these accusations come about? Defence spending. In extremes, McCain wanted to thrust himself back into war and Obama wanted to focus a little less on the paranoia that fuels American war and concentrate on what really matters, your country and your government.

I still can't believe how much the US spends on its defence budget, America was looking very much like a paranoid sociopath with a gun who was about to shoot someone they'd regret. McCain would not have helped the matter in any way shape or form. The very thought of an war vet leading the worlds biggest bomb primed for detonation (I.e. America) makes me fear for the alliance we're supposed to have.

Voting Obama is one of the most sensible choices America has ever made in its entire civilized history, and it might even start to change global perception. In my opinion the world’s general stereotypical perception of America is a loud opinionated overweight southerner with a bad attitude. The kind of people borat interacted with at the rodeo. Who did Texas vote for again? Ah, yeah.
