One thing i've found frustrating with servers atm is that everyone just hopes that gold will be a worthwhile currency, but it just turns out worthless on nearly every server.
Don't just hope people will use it...make it valuable. One thing i'd personally do is put a standard kit set (say every 10 or so levels for example) on npc's for a real high price so people need gold to afford it. More gold than they will get from just leveling alone. And then that kit will be replaced by better stuff from bosses or the next kit up. And to afford the next kit up, they may need to sell their current npc bought kit to players etc for gold. But obviously boss kit/rare drops in leveling zones should be slightly to a lot better, depending on the difficulty of getting the item.
Obviously these standard kits should stop at a fairly early point forcing all items past that point (say 37 or so on a low-med rate serv) to be boss dropped or whatever, so that everyone isn't just running the same default kit.
Just an idea i had for actually making a server economy based around gold instead of just item trades and i'm not going to make my own server so i figure i'd share it.
thanks for the idea, unfortunatly the server files are euro mir clone with added sets at lvl 30 40+50 and new items here and there, for instance u have a coral ring at lvl 25, at lvl 27 there is a ring that is dc3-4 which is about as rare as a dragon ring.
the gold on the server is the same as euro mir, (maybe decreaseing it a little) and a system like the mir3 booty sale.
The difference on this server is that people will need money to repair there expensive armours, (which are the less rare of all items ingame)
a heaven armour value is 700k
a mir armour is 800k
and darkmyst armour is 1mill.
the idea needs a lot of playing around with, but will get it right, its the only part of mir that u can really edit with great efficiancy nowa days. so im looking to put it to the best use.
