Even if he were to release his source it would still require someone to work on it as any other files, we should count ourselves lucky having more options out there over 2.3. Lot's of people keep saying mir is dead and that's been said countless amounts of times over the years but mir is still here is it not ? and always will be in some shape or form. It's the same as soma the same community is still there years later and they have barely any updates since euro soma.
It's not about having a coder or what files you use, it's the creativity of the server owner that will make a good successful server, although having more up to date set of files with new features will attract players in the short term.
, doesnt matter how creative you are, you cant make a balanced server with curse that last 600mintues, firewall that lasts 600minutes, and TDB that cuts straight through AC. the simple fact is the files atm are way to Unbalanced for anyway to make anything decent, they'd be constantly plauged with balanceing issues.
and that's just 2.3 files.
Ruby doesnt have variables working, i'd love to see u get creative without being able to save things, limits u to doing, mhm **** all. (tho apart from that, i cant see anything majorly wrong with them, it just costs more to host these as u have to also pay for a webserver, if he hadnt of wasted so much time trying to code tigers/sin/fishing, they'd probarly be usefull by now.
Heros tdb is equally as screwed, its half chinese, and loads of other little things, actually if im totally honest, i read that TDB doesnt work, and havnt looked at the section since, except to check if its been fixed, which it hasnt, i havnt got a cluie what other bugs/balance problems there are.
i agree in principal u dont need a coder to make an original server, all u need is half a brain cell, and some variables u can do a hell of alot that most people dont realise is possible.
But i have to disagree on the files out there being any use what so ever, each files has its own crucial balance issues, which simply stop the files being anymore usefull than a piece of dog **** on the bottom of ur shoe on a saturday night.
I'd settle for simple basic, 2.3 files that arnt complety unbalanced, and have working variables, over any fancy ****ty files with buggy heros/tigers/fishing/ that so called "new class" which is just, well dont even get me started, any day.
+ td 2.3 has like 6-7 major bugs
TDB- needs fixing
curse- needs caping
firewall-need's caping.
cheats- stopped.
Done, u have a stable set of 2.3 files that would be useful in creating a balanced server (which we havnt seen since 1.4 days, and is the major reason 90% of players rage quit servers)
I don't think the Hero's files are in that much of a state. Would be nice to have a few servers out using the files like when they were first released so we can gather as many bugs as possible.
It is a little frustrating that work begins on files, then stops half way through them with people just moving onto other projects, but can you blame the coders for this? They put some good work into coding the files, only for the files
a. Never get used
b. Just get slagged off
A good, set of stable and up-to-date files would be great, but the last set of public files that were the most stable, imo was the 1.4 ones - And even they had many of problems, which due to the source could not be fixed.
Also a lot of server owners give up after a little while, because all they get if grief from players.
Some are only in it for the money, so once the donations start to dry up, they just close the server. This makes it hard for players to trust spending hours on a server, only for it to go down after a month.
i agree but the reason they get slagged of because they pick it up and leave it, and tbph i wouldnt waste my time fixing some files for this community, as no1 would appreciate it anyway, + ur not gonna make any money out of it, so why bother wasteing ur time, when u can use your skills to do something usefull, with real financial impact on ur life.
There isnt any huge bugs spot ruby for runningh stable and a nice server. People just dont take the time to learn how the files, work.
You post heros dont work? Funny we test them out today and things work fine, You posted Vars not in files well they are.
Should for us to post a update then saying someone work isnt good.
You say 2.3 you can so alot with ok but wheres your server?
tdb doesnt even work on heros', unless they've fixed it and not said anything? i think ryan tried like 5months ago, and got it wrong and never bothered to fix it.
And ruby has assassins, who the hell wants to use that?, i remember FH did a poll as to who actualyl like assasins and around 80% said they hated them...so u've lost out on a big chunk of potential players, just by useing your files.
and if variables are in, i take it back, but the list of features needs updateign as it currently says variables are not working properly.
and my server went down, because firewall lasted 600minutes, curse lasted 600minutes, and i cudnt be arsed with constant moans about something i couldnt change.
