Lthanx btw for not banning me. How about listing These banned apps so we can avoid them?

I found that I get dc'd whenever my smart ram background app is running ( it just clears the ram cache every 5mins nothing malicious for the game ).

Just curious and this isn't a dig but why would you use Smart Ram unless you have very little RAM on you system or run programs suffering from memory leaks?

I have been using it for ages. It is a feature in my AV that runs in the background if you set it up. When I got this AV software I was playing SWtoR and it was suffering from some serious memory leaks at the time. If you ever played it you would know.

And tbh it's just like doing defrag and disc cleaner every now and then.

I have 8gb of ram so it wasn't really needed unless I wanted to play for hours non stop lol. Saves rebooting my comp to refresh the ram.

Ah OK. I never played SWtoR so I wouldn't know. Also I think that it would be a good idea for the GMs to publish a list of what applications it is picking up so that players know not to use them whilst playing Mir. IMO unless you have a piss poor PC then you really don't need to run any 3rd party apps at all this includes the redundant ACPI tweak too. It also baffles me that I hear players using cheat engine and other apps to gain a speed advantage. Do these players know that using those apps on their own without anti-security is going to get them banned?

A lot of people have cheated on mir for years, so they pretty much can't play it without cheats now.

Shame really.

True but there seems to be a group of wannabe cheaters who use crappy 3rd party apps thinking they can get away with it resulting in uneccesarry bans just because they want to keep up with "Speed".

I disagree, cheats should never be publicized, and listing which cheats dont work is likely to encourage people to find ones that do.

You have a point but I guess it depends how you look at it. The real solution is getting an anti-cheat security in place. One which boots the players automatically rather than the GMs having to sift through logs to see who has done what.

I didn't say tell us what cheats we can't use. I said tell us what program's are not allowed to use.

Non of the program's I have used are cheat program's. They are program's that allow us to turn off a load on non gaming services/processes easily. You can do this without these program's it's just not as simple.

Also my memory cleaner (smart ram) is nothing but what it says. I can't for the life of me figure out how it could be used as a cheat. The only things I can change with it is how often it cleans ram.

A list of all these type dog program's would not cause people to start cheating.

I'm sure i meant list the programs that it picks up not actual cheats even though good cheats won't be picked up anyway. Sorry I must have worded what I said wrong.

Just a bit of advice, I can bet you don't even need these 3rd party "Performance Increasing" programs. Modern PCs are more than capable of maintaining high performance now especially with an old game like Mir. So unless your editing videos, running multiple games etc they are not needed.

Finally Smart Ram can't be used as a cheat. It's just being picked up by the server security as a cheat. This is because the memory addresses are being changed as they are refreshed (Cheats work by changing memory cba to explain in full) and Mir's default anti-cheat just looks for memory address changes.

Aye im a bit gutted I cant use gamebooster, as I do have a laptop that is piss poor for gaming. Im not very computer literate, and me trying to close down all processes I dont need for gaming is not simple for me, which is why gamebooster helped me a lot. I was still seriously slow with it turned on anyway, but it was a hell of a lot more bearable with 25fps than it is for me now with what im presuming to be about 10fps. Still though, Im under the impression that the system cant distinguish between programmes like this and actual cheat apps, so what can you do other than just get on with it.

I will be surprised if it even picks game-booster up as all it does is close down services. It should only really pick up programs that alter the client/server. But I'm assuming how their anti-cheat works here.

Im also surprised developers haven't found a way to keep everyone's movement speed always the same yet.

8o It would be interesting to know if the anti-cheat they have running is the default one or something they developed themselves. Anyone know? As I don't think it should be picking up things like Game-Booster unless it's doing more than close services.
