I really think thats a big reason i lag, when there are 50-80 stalls open.
Doubtful, also I hope that if we do implement a trust merchant, it wouldn't be a traditional trust merchant but actually make use of stall's and just provide a graphical interface for people selling goods with an open stall. This is undecided, but it is what I would like other wise a really awesome feature is not being used.
tbh i put it down to the lighting system in place on here!
Again doubtful, if it was the case of the lighting system over the graphics engine or any other aspect, then all would be experiencing it, not a select few.
Suggestions for investigation
Graphical Lag
Download fraps and have it running in the background to keep an eye on your fps (yellow numbers top left), this should be between 30-60, if it is below this then the reason you are experiencing lag is because your graphics card is unable to cope, you can attempt to following to ease it:
- Run the client in windowed mode (I can't stress this one enough, the development team have only really tested in windowed mode and although the option is available we have no idea of what issues it may cause).
- Run with the large interface over the small (People have experienced issues with the smaller interface causing lag in the passed, this is due to a missing or corrupt image that the client expects to be available).
- Lower your resolution on environments with a lower max resolution, e.g. if your system resolution is 1024x768, then don't use the 1024x786 client resolution, pop it down once to 1024x600.
- Finally client color depth to 32-bit to 16-bit.
I suggest trying each step individually and giving it a test to see if any have worked.
System Lag
When you start lagging, open task manager and check on mir2.exe's process, take note of what the cpu usage is and if it is low then have a look for any other processes that have a high cpu usage...
If you find a process with a high cpu usage, kill it (within reason make sure its not important) and then investigate what it is lol.
The fact that some people experience this lag and others don't (regardless of laptop spec, I and I know a bunch of other people run the client fine with a crap spec laptop) suggests that it is an environment issue...
