Hello LOMCN,

I have been playing Mir3 over the years and never really touched Mir2. However I have been watching some of the YouTube videos and think I can get into it. There isn't too much difference from what I can see.

My question is. What makes this server so special compared to other Mir2 Private servers? Other than the large player base.

From what I have read so far, these guys seem to have a good coding team. What is in this server that isn't in others?

Hopefully what we have is a team that will finish the files. Not seen many of any finished files for Mir for ages.

Archer is probably the biggest thing this server has. Apart from that it's pretty much the same as others.

What makes Chronicles different?

A professional server team, who's joint skills can provide a great gaming experience for all Mir lovers.

Oh, and everything any other set of server files currently offers + more... Sorry I almost forgot :).

Pay to win servers suck , i just wish sam + the team ( sorry cant remember you all) would hurry up but suppose it might be a good x mas present for lomcn :P

Ace Mir (version 1 of chronicles) was the only server I could stand to play after my last server RaGEZONE shut down something like 5-6 years ago.
It just had the right feel for me, Starting 3 months into the server, I managed to find other low levels to play with in the nooby caves and had adventures in BWmines and WT - I didn't get the impression that I would be playing catchup for the next month, which is so often the case on other servers.
The item rarity was almost how I like it, although ruby/dragon rings were common and I would like them to still be worth trading - but hey, I was late joining.

I'm Patiently waiting for Mir Chronicles to launch since its the only server I find that has the right Mir ze ne se qua.

PS: Plus it's in the higher screen resolution!!

Oh so the fact the engine uses its own custom lighting for spells, buildings and npc's is not special ? and the fact that its got more features than the official because of the span of features used on other sources.

I personally think this source is the best, even at its applem2 state. The sheer work gone into these files is immense and far greater than any other set of source files out there.

and i hate blowing other peoples trumpets, but its pure fact.

You have to factor in why many people play mir though. It certainly isn't for the graphics and never will be.
When those 'special' qualities are removed what does it really bring. The answer should be content. Hour and hours of enjoyable content.
No the way a specific part of a map sparkles compared to another part.

Right now Arcadia is way ahead in terms of content and diversity.
But I shall await the Assassin and Archer classes and the Quest system.

I completely agree.

Right now Arcadia is way ahead in terms of content and diversity.

Sadly the content on Arcadia does not 'fit' with what my memory of Mir2 was all about and because of that there is no nostalgia and I simply cannot put in over an hour or two without getting bored.

There is also the fact that the GameShop is ridiculously expensive, and is 100% Pay to win. Being able to purchase all skills in the game shop rather than grinding for weeks to get it ruins everything there is about Mir. You can even buy from the Cash shop and sell on the ingame market for tens of millions at a time.

From what I've seen so far the Chronicles team are introducing JinchonPalace and MysteryShip into the Mir2 world which makes me think that more of the Mir3 dungeons will be introduced to give Mir2 a lot more depth and provide nostalgia to a much wider audience.

The one thing that can ruin the success of this Chronicles server is the Gameshop, just as it has ruined Arcadia.

Yes this mir fitted memories. Much changed upgraded and updated with new stuff too but like hyd said it fitted
Lot of great work from coder and team
Lot of the usual crowd but also lot of people who hadnt played for years.
Players would chat if not concentrating. Met players hadnt spoken to for years and some never spoken to before.

I think its safe to expect that you won't see lvl 100 not only in few months but perhaps ever on this server.

This talk about nostalgia of mir, which I take is pple's memories of euro mir2, IMO it lies in the main in under level 40 - 45 because that's what made up most of the years that euro mir lasted. And if its made nowadays that pple get to 40 in a month time and even without geeking it exceptionally, then that's way too fast and those folks will never relive the nostalgia because for that you need to spend some decent time in those lover level caves and not always feverishly leveling but also hunting for items, taking even the better junk out to sell to shops and all that.

On today's servers (that includes acem1) everybody zooms to 40 and doesn't care about anything except fast leveling - items for that are adequately provided for in shops and gold for pots is plentifull and everybody's concern is only to level to 40 and higher and if there are special caves that give good exp, pple will stay in them no matter how boring those caves may otherwise be, they won't stick their noses in those classic noob caves at all unless they have to. Then before long they run around in mir armor and call for new content and quit before long due to being bored.

I don't see why today's mir should have any items for any level in shops whatsoever (except what pple sell to them), what with everybody being mir veteran who should be able to fend for himself in the mir wilds LOL and get his copper ring and all that from mobs (I wouldn't give starter char anything, not even a coin or noob armor or stick or a candle and I fail to see why lev22 armors or items should be in shop automatically). Problem is that your typical exp ratio even on low rate servers is such that pple stay with those low level mobs too little time to get much any items from them.

Related problem is that there is next to no effort to make the low level classic caves exciting place to be, like liven up the spawns and maybe increase the mob difficulty a bit but that goes hand in hand with those exp multipliers.

Also, its not quite true mir player doesn't care about graphics. I'd say we don't care about improvements like photo realistic or 3d graphics that modern games provide but the improvement in the color bits and resolution of the orig graphics is welcomed. Speaking of resolution, I wonder if we could have still bigger res than 1024x768, the max that ace mir had.

I'd second that. My main PC screen is 32 inch and I'm used to playing more modern MMOs with higher resolutions. I recently installed another Mir2 private server to try get my Mir fix while I waited for chronicles but the resolution made my eyes bleed. I honestly think I'd struggle to play mir at a lower resolution after playing it at 1024x768.

In Ashen Empires you can have higher resolution, but the actual game area sames the same resolution. You will have black sides next to the game, but you can drag all kind of chat windows, inventory tabs, hotbars and character info on it. We need this.
