As I played an assassin on USA Mir for over a year, I just wanted to share my insight on a couple of skills, as I’ve noticed some big confusion when discussing a couple of skills on the forums.
First of all, I will say that the two most important skills for an assassin are Flash Dash and Moonlight. They are literally the bread and butter and if the skills aren’t exactly like USA, the entire class is compromised.
I just want to give an overview of how they worked on that server, then you can take or leave it as you please. Just want to make sure you have all the information, as you said the team did not play USA.
Flash Dash (Level 3):
Right, the best skill ever created. The idea of this skill is to combine Shoulder Dash and a continuous (yes, continuous) TDB.
When you press the designated F key just once, your character will dash forward 1 space, simply. However, if there is a mob, you will perform a singular strike, similar to TDB. I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT THIS IS NOT WHAT THE SKILL WAS USED FOR.
Instead of pressing the F key once, you could hold it down. If you did so, your character would Shoulder Dash FOREVER at a very high cost of MP. Yes, you heard me, your character will just keep running forward as long as you hold down the key and have MP. I don’t understand why people are saying it was limited to a number of spaces as at level 3, it was unlimited.
It is worth noting that the MP cost for this was extremely high.
However, you don’t actually have the ability to move anything, and this is what happens when you come face to face with something:
The assassin will continue to attack until the object dies, moves, or you run out of MP.
Now, picture a line of Bugbats that are stuck and cannot move. If you line up your assassin right, then hold Flash Dash down, you will do the following:
Dash towards the first mob, begin attacking, when its dead you will immediately dash into the space that the mob was in and start attacking the next one. Rinse, repeat, constantly until you run out of MP or all the mobs are dead and you continue to dash in the direction until you hit a wall.
The simple idea of the skill is that you line your sights up and hold the key down, causing you to run at your target, kill it when you get to it, then continue dashing in a straight line when dead. The ultimate assassination move.
This was quite literally the only skill used on USA at one point. It was so effective and it hit so hard. The drawback was the insane consumption of MP; it would use all MP in about 6-7 seconds of holding the button down, so you had to pot like a mad man if you wanted to continue holding down the key.
Moonlight:
This would turn you invisible to players, simply put. If you came within 2 spaces of a player, then they would see you with the hide animation (the way the skill currently looks on this server). However, beyond this, you completely disappeared.
The idea behind this was to be tactical, keep your distance so to speak.
Now the most popular tactic ever used on assassins was to combine these two skills as such:
As you can see, this was the vision of the assassin and as it stands, we can’t do any of this.
Just wanted to write this, so you had all of the information on these two skills. Whether you choose to use it is entirely up to yourself.
If you want any further information, just let me know.

However, you don’t actually have the ability to move anything, and this is what happens when you come face to face with something:
- If you come up against a wall or object, you simply stop, but your MP will continue to deplete for as long as you hold down the F key.
- If you come up to an attackable mob or player, your character will start performing a repeated TDB style attack that would hurt very badly.
The assassin will continue to attack until the object dies, moves, or you run out of MP.

Now the most popular tactic ever used on assassins was to combine these two skills as such:
- You first cast Moonlight and become invisible to a player.
- You sneak up to a player and stand 3 spaces away, remaining unseen.
- You line your hidden assassin up, so he is looking directly at the player.
- You then hold down Flash Dash, immediately cancelling Moonlight and dashing very quickly 3 spaces forward and beginning to attack.
- If the player dies, you continue to dash away immediately after if still holding the key.
- If the player stands and fights, Flash Dash continues to attack until you run out of MP
- If the player moves out of the way, you will continue to dash forward, escaping the situation and then recast Moonlight if it has cooled down.
As you can see, this was the vision of the assassin and as it stands, we can’t do any of this.
