Looking to have 2 monitors running from a laptop. Laptop only has one hdmi port so I'm looking for a splitter. Seems to be a lot of choice out there though so just wondering if anyone has one that works well/could recommend?

A splitter really used for 1 screen and multiple devices. I use a remote one at home for my TV which lets me use plug five devices into the TV.
Apart from the Matrox device which Far mentioned you could get a docking station. I have to use a laptop for work as sometimes I need to work from home. This laptop only has one VGA port but when it's in its dock I can rig it up to 4 monitors plus the laptop screen itself.
Those Matrox devices are nearly £200 :concern: and docking stations are around £100+ depending on the make of the laptop. Either way it isn't going to be cheap.
Splitter can go both ways. The type Milo has is a 3 in/1 out but you can get the 1 in/2 out sort as well. But anyway a docking station is what I was originally looking for but they actually seem about the same price (Matrox about £125 by the looks, don't know where you got 200 from)
Yeah you can get lower priced Matrox ones for about £100 but they use VGA / DVI and not HDMI.
Cheap alternative is a USB to HDMI. Though you need to have USB3 on your laptop.

Don't expect to play anything with a high frame rate requirement with this. It'll manage about 30fps max so films / games are usually not good on these.
Docking stations as Violent suggests will also do the same trick, however they're a little overkill as they provide further USB / PS2 output too.

Edit:
I found a USB2 to HDMI adapter, though I'm not sure how it'll cope with the power requirement.
