I have not had much time to test much of this at the moment but from what I have seen the standard torch looks fine with a large enough radius however the HardTorch users seem to be the ones with the complaints (I didn't equip mine as i'm using archer at the moment and only need to repair once every 3 weeks lol)

Should the HardTorch give the same light radius as a normal torch now that everything else is darker?
The cost on hardtorches is enough to balance the benefits for your standard player, I don't think reduced vision is a good idea really.
(I know HT had lower radius before but the rest of the screen was lighter so it didn't make as much of a difference)

I can only speak from my own personal experience but 2 friends of mine that I started the server with both quit within 2 weeks, the reason they gave was "its too dark" they had come from a mir server that didn't use torches at all as everything was light so i didn't really think much of it, but perhaps it being "too dark" might have a negative effect. (speculative)

As I said yet to test much due to time commitments.

We plan on tweaking the light tonight... Unfortunately none of my systems are bad enough to be able to see the effects that the lighting system has on others... So I need to wait for Milo to be available to use his laptop for testing.

Was that a sly dig at Milo and his uber laptop? :P

I know where you are coming form. My rig is top end, graphics card is a bit lacking (550 GTi), but should still cakewalk mir. As it stands, I get a solid 30-40 FPS :(

If anyone would like to help me with this haha!

Right well heres my experience, i tried the whole windows 7 with aero enabled and i seemed to get 45-55 in most towns.. then i formatted put 8.1 on and i get a solid 60 everywhere. Maybe try a diff operating system and see what works for you?

Honestly it's a mixture of Chronicles being DirectX8 (Old at this stage) and Light blending. It can and most likely will improve but it's never gonna be a massive priority. I'll nag Sam some more to improve his light code. It's really just about optimising it hopefully.

Tell me do you get 60FPS in Oma Cave (Or any old map) where the only light source is your own Torch?

Flinch limited to 1 per second.

This hate literally ****ed up this game. Its made anyone able to keep running when hit by mobs and just lose HP with no flinch from both people and mobs.

Fail change tbh

Thank you for the detailed feedback on a feature that is being tested.

Is it not a case of run-flinch-run-flinch now instead of run-flinch-flinch-flinch-flinch-flinch-run which could keep you stuck to the spot for sometimes 5 seconds

i wasnt getting the fps cap of 60 and my gpu was significantly better than yours - GTX 770. i would be more or less stuck at 40-55 fps with some drops below 30 fps.

i7 2600
HDD 7200rpm i think

Run/Flinch is ruining Mir, always has done and always will, it's a crappy feature that slows down PVE/PVP, i would assume ranged class complaining as all they done in their mir life is stand back and let pets hit the target while they run around avaoiding everything.

Carebear.

Flinch change seems good overall to be honest. Helps getting to places and also helps pvp wise on both sides.

Few more things to test but otherwise a positive change.

Only carebear thing here is that crap team you support.

No this "test" update just means that players that don't hold shift (unlike melee classes) have more work cut out for them. I can hit a warrior with AB and yet they can carry on running while just their HP disappears off their bar and can easily just keep good old shift lock in working order..

Run run shift lock..... f1....f2...f3.. (buffed up)...boom!

Boring? Indeed
