Help 3.55 local server issue

hi everyone, im currently trying to set up a 3.55 server to have a mess around on etc, i followed the sting guide but used the "3.55 working" files, ive done SQL and ODBC, i think ive set up the IP's correctly , got armadillo to crack but when i open the client files provided within 3.55working it doesn't load anything i have all gates open as provided in screenshot but unsure as to where its currently going wrong - this is run in oracle VM, windows xp home edition x86 SP2

I have never done it in a VM but I have a spare windows XP machine that I ran Sting on if you want one... I am in Stoke (UK).

forgot i had an old laptop and been messing around with it on there, can get it to select char now, just as i enter game i get booted so having a little mess around again to see if i can fix that part, thanks tho

if i dont remember bad, you have to multi choose on the taskbar few apps and close at same time, also its a pain in the ass with the ips and ports, so make sure you have everything setted up, if you can't reach game after selchar, its a problem with ips/ports

yeh ive finally managed to get on locally , imported sting's cruel DB for english items so gunna have a play about

are your client files available by any chance?, ive looked through mir files but cant find them, been using some of your DB's since its english

BTW. If anyone else wants an old Windows XP Dell PC for use as a 3.55 server for free, give me a shout, it just sits under my desk gathering dust.

By the way, regarding the updated 2022 version of Mud3 you mentioned, which client did you use? Is that also listed on that page with all the files?

There's an installer for sting client there. I'll check it out and upload to mirfiles as a .rar.

I want to make sure I understand something: with the Mud3 and the Sting client shown here, does that mean the tables, image links, etc., should all be set up correctly? I mean, I don’t want to have to start by grabbing an SQL database from one server, then a Mud3 from another, and a client from yet another.

Yes, Sting server files and client should match.

Hi, thanks. I have a small problem: when I try to set up the Armadillo, I get an error. I'm doing it correctly—I copy the password (KEY) into a .txt file, then enter “Holley” as the name—but it won't let me proceed. However, when I try to reset the Armadillo using ResetTrial to try again, I still get an error; it tells me the password is incorrect.

Perfect, problem solved (WITH JUST 1 PROCESSOR—THAT WAS THE MISTAKE; I HAD IT SET UP WITH 2).

Now, the next problem: when I load CruelDragon, I get an error about some path, file, or script—I'm not sure which. Thanks

xD -_-, because I set it up using Sting's database and client, I don't know where things are located, and my paths are correct. I'm wondering if anyone knows what might be causing this problem, because I can't figure it out...

Then post screenshorts or logs so we can see what's wrong

Your missing the db file in your SQL Databases. Common problem when using old db files. Without looking at it i cant remember 100% but i think Game3G or Hero3G.
