Hi all,

This server is great, I think we would probably all acknowledge that it's the best low rate server in years, maybe ever. Its user count is also the current highest, and has been sustained for a while.

But Mir is about many factions fighting it out.

a) Can Chronicles support a larger userbase? If so how many? 500? 1000? Active users at one time.
b) What community attempts, or help, could be done to help make it grow? Maybe a targeted crack at big websites like mmorpg.com and reddit? Links, trailer, shop window screenshots, all in one "press pack" so to speak.

There is a lot of talk about the comeback of "Sandbox" MMOs, and that "Theme Park" MMOs like WoW and Elder Scrolls are a hard sell to new players, who happen to be MMO veterans at the very same time. There's a lot of Sandbox MMOs in the works, but nothing as complete as Mir, or even really out of Beta worth trying. Seize the day.

Just a thought. With Mir, the more the merrier. And new blood and fresh eyes would not be the worst thing in the world. It shows no signs of happening, but it would be a shame for all this hard work to one day have only been seen by a hardcore faithful. Maybe an organised community effort, to spread the good word, in the same vein as how we are all so good at meeting up and learning our roles for a hunt or a siege, is what could push this great game back to greatness.

That was only the first month.

Also I'd classify this as more of a med rate with the changes to drops and exp since open.

New people are a good 9months + of grind behind most players, kinda puts new players off i think, with a Low rate like Euro everyone got bunched up in levels and could get to that area in 3-4months. and even the geeks on Euro didnt gain a massive amount of kit or damage for being higher then the rest.

top level here 54? most will never get there imo.

But Mir 2 (as well as Lin 2) is one of the only MMOs where it really is "bring the player, not the class(level)"

An elite of high level players with an army of 40 somethings would still be interesting at sabuk. An an even more interesting political thing within the game, almost a powerful zerg underclass of lower levels vs higher, more poweful but fewer elites... Kinda like the real world...

A re-branding of Archers and the addition of the Monk class will hopefully get this server back up to around the 250-300 user count.

I can't see how targeting mainstream websites will help, the majority of people on this server were all brought up on Euro, if i didn't play euro and seen this game advertised now i'd probaly lol.

Its certainly an acquired taste.

The server hit 1000+ at stages in the first 1-3 weeks (yes I know it was never going to stay that high), capacity wise the server can definitely handle an influx of players.

I don't think the magic of mir can be captured by new players joining a later server. Things like exploring, finding new bosses and testing out tactics all get stamped on by the campers.
A new player cant even do the ghoulking quest without facing 2-3 level 40+ campers every hour.

I would love to see more people though, if they did do something like that locking lower caves to lower levels would be an absolute must to give them a chance to decide if they like the game or not,

I see your point about campers, but I think maybe we underestimate how difficult Mir was for all of us. Campers was a massive problem, I never fought Zumatarus for years because everytime we got jumped or pushed off it.

The game and its mechanics are what bring us back, and those are what will appeal. It just needs to be presented right. To show what will come, like we all had game network to see what was to come. Our carrot and stick.

Think of the experience people joining game now would actually get.

Any of the bigger guilds wouldn't accept lower lvl's, so it would be Dunedain/BW's, and they don't just have to reach 40 now either. On top of that, that whole process no longer offers the opportunity to kill EC/WT or summet to keep you interested in the game until you reach higher lvl's, because they would turn up, get trashed in 1 hit by a lvl 46+ camping it for pot cash and think....why bother

Not to mention the ballache lvling can be when everybody is crammed into the same place. New player lvling Numa at lvl 30+.....dead within minutes to the lvl 50 wiz who wants all those Numa's for his lure.

As for getting people to come back, as far as I can see the server has turned to bile, half the server want nothing more than to spout abuse. Its no longer banter on here, its simple trolling and abuse. Why bother

a) A level cap on caves would resolve this issue.
b) I guess this game isn't for you.

Sabuk war creates wars which brings players together. Just going by what I saw at the last war. Our guild facebook page was buzzing more then normal and it actually brought back some old players who wanted to join in. At the moment there is a lack of this and I don't think the Chronicles Team understand they can bring players back by just fixing this.

On another server I played on Mondays, Weds and Sundays ( evening peak times) there would be War. There would be an global announcement 15 minutes before and you would click on the npc to register your interest to take part. Everyone gets teleported in and the players are randomly split into 2 teams. ( this helps promote more ppl to join in / not guild vs guild ). It is a contest room about 4/5 times the size of BW contest room and you do not drop pots or items. You can teleport back in as many times as you want and the point is to kill more of the other team within 20 minutes. after 20 minutes the losing team gets teleported out and the winning team have 1 minute to collect marbles / tts/ game gold chests / benes / sun bundles. The website would then update the scoreboard to show kill / death stats of everyone that took part. How many killed / death to whom and who by. Yes you could RT.

GimmeAKitKat does have a valid point and it is what I have been saying.

As much as some of you like to banter and troll other people and players do not like it and it keeps them away from playing the game when they come to the forum and read some of the rubbish.
I have said it before some players PM me instead of posting on the forum due to the risk of flames.

Its just a case of keeping the flames to the flame threads, ie the guild section and threads like the Archer MC thread should be keep clean so that players can talk about improving the game without being flamed

This is good.
