Our school CCSD (I graduated last year) hasn't had a winning season since 2000 when all of the coaching staff left due to the school's administration being complete idiots. Since then we havn't won more than 3 games each season (average of 10 or so games). Now, from what I hear the school administration wants to fire the current coaching staff because they *think* they are the problem. Well, as always, the school administration knows jack **** about anything football related. The coaching staff is GREAT.
Reasons why we havn't had a winning season, year by year analysis, listed in order of magnatude:
Year 1 (2001; my first year;Freshman; Junior Varsity Team)
-Whole coaching staff left 1 week before first game
-Key senior players left because of schools decision
-Former coaching staff comes back to coach rest of the season
Year 2 (2002; my second year; Sophmore; DID NOT PLAY)
-Same coaching staff from 2001 (Head wrestling coach)
-Young team
Year 3 (2003; my third year; Junior; Varsity)
-New coaching staff
-Key player injuries
Year 4 (2004; my fourth and final year in high school; Senior; Varsity)
-Key player injuries
-2nd season with coaching staff
Year 5 (2005; my brother's sophmore year; Varsity)
-YOUNG team
-School administration imposed limitations
Now I'll explain what I mean with:
New coaching staff:
With each new coaching staff brings a new style of play. You can't learn a new offense and perfect it in just a year or two.
Key player injuries:
Self-explanitory. Vital players on the team getting injured with 2nd and 3rd string replacing them.
Young team:
You don't win games with a young team. A 15/16 year old vs. a larger, faster 17/18 year old isn't a sight to see. This is usually the "rebuilding" year, where as these players mature and they learn the offense then their coming years are met with success.
School administration imposed limitations:
1)Football consists of 2 months of dedicated practicing in the summer. The school did not recognize this and allowed other sports like wrestling to hold as much as 20 hours a week of practice per week.
2)Shared weight room. To me this was a "WTF" issue. To be "fair" the weight room had to be shared time wise evenly between all the sports... As in girls volleyball and basketball get's the same time as football... what a load of crap.
3)The administration deemed it nessecary for practice to end @ 5:30PM. End as in all athletes are already out of the locker room. Considering football starts @ 2:30~PM that's only 3 hours of practice minus about 30-45 minutes of getting dresses and undressed and walking to the field.
4)Have to come back before it get's dark... Because the practice field is across a street the administration didn't want any kids to walk across a cross walk while it was dark, even though there are tons of lights around the area... Luckily it didn't get too dark till the last 2 weeks of the season.
You're probably wondering why I posted this. When I figure it out, I'll let you know.
