Honestly, I'd rather recommend you obtain Windows 7 or 10 through illegitimate means than have to play on Windows Vista... christ almighty.

You don't need a new PC, just install it on a partition. Or, if you prefer to be ethical, buy the operating system. Honestly though if his PC is from the windows vista age, it's time for an upgrade. Help your old man out.

Honestly, it's a top notch system with vista, could definantely run win 7, can run heavier games like guild wars 2 with ease, but for mir I still like keeping vista on it, run's most mir's with top notch speed lol, don't wanna take vista off it

If that's the case, just partition a new operating system onto the hard drive if you really want to keep Vista (although, to my knowledge, Windows XP for 2.3 servers was superior, then Windows 7+ for anything later than that was vastly superior, due to having Windows Aero) I had vista and ditched it the moment I could, just a terrible operating system.

GW2 is not a heavy game, fyi. Cartoony styled graphics MMO's can be ran on near enough anything. But, I digress, if he's just going to play Mir, don't bother upgrading.

No we just went back to Chonicles, we don't know how to partition and whatnot, and don't know where to even get a copy of win7, so we gave up lol.

You can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Zircon server works smooth on windows 10, and not lag problems like others versions of mir, just look for upgrade to Windows 10 in Google, it keeps all your data , photos , music etc when you doing upgrade. Good luck

I mean what problems do have trying to run Zircon on Vista?

Only thing I can think of is outdated DX, or .net framework but they should still be able to run it.

If the above update doesn't end up working for you let me know tamped, I'll send you a detailed guide on how to partition and give you the necessary links for an operating system.

The patcher won't download files, I can get the error message for you later after work, but I've downloaded everything on download page, patcher will load up, but it won't download.

Also turned off firewalls trying to use patcher.

Go to a local tip or car boot sale and pick up an old pc. Look for the windows sticker for one with W7 on it. It'll cost peanuts and probably work plus its almost certain to have a vaild W7 already installed or you can take the key off the sticker.
Just a fun answer for a change !

I'd go back to windows millenium before i touched Vista again that was a filthy OS also it's bad for Mir, probably not so much these days but back in 1.4-2.3 Vista wasn't what you wanted.

I'd suggest what Koriban said and partition your Hard Drive if you really want to keep Vista but there really no need most newer games wont even support Vista.

I downloaded the game files onto a flash drive to copy to his pc, the game runs fine, but the patcher gives the same error.

The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

These are the exact files from my pc, which doesn't get this error.

After today's small patch, it won't let him patch, same error.

Get him to download and install everything from the Download page,

Once done download TeamViewer 10 from the link (on the Zircon download page).

Finally when TeamViewer 10 is installed tell him to private message me the 9 Digit code and password (Forum PM, E-Mail, etc). I will then see if I can resolve it.

Will do, he's asleep right now, we are eastern time, he won't be up for about another 5 hours or so, once he wakes up I'll have him start it up so we can do that. I'd do it myself but he got it passworded lol.

If all else fails, I can at least run/update the game on the flash drive from my pc and run the game off the flash on his. Minor pain to update but that's working lol.

Sounds like the AV is blocking the patcher for connecting, or something along those lines. Is there any way to create an exception for your entire Zircon folder through your antivirus? Perhaps also allowing it's connection through windows defender/firewall.
