Application to prevent Melee Shift Key/Chat bar issue - Bannable?

I wrote a small application that is basically a keyboard mod, when activated it blocks the shift keys from activating the chat bar whilst melee fighting. I still have to let go of shift to pot, but on the odd occasion that I accidently press both shift & 1-6 it stops me from opening the chat bar and preventing further potting.
It just prevents a known issue with melee fighting and doesn't really give me any upper hand.

If I was to use this application, would it be something that would be bannable?
It is technically just the same as remapping your keyboard, but I wanted to ask about it before getting potentially banned.

Remapping your keyboard essentially just swaps keys around. Your program means that you wont accidentally open chat bar during pvp and type numbers when you mean to pot. As other players will still suffer from this, it gives you an advantage over them, so i'd of thought this would be frowned upon.

I would be happy to share it with the community.
I have seen a post stating that this feature was previously actually added to the game, but then removed again due to complaints? I am unsure what the complaints would even be if it was part of the game.

release as source so that people can compile to prevent (hacks). not implying your are just the safest way to distribute, or allow staff to compile and release

Yup happy to release the source code, it's only a VB Net keyboard hook so nothing too complex. You can either block shift + 1-6 completely or have it act as if you just pressed 1-6 and it ignores the shift, so pots without stopping the shift lock on players.

Chron team would not be interested, as mentioned above they are able to do it themselves within game but decided not to due to complaints. Maybe they could put it back ingame but with the ability to toggle it. As I can only assume it is an issue for people who want to message straight to guild or party with !~ or !!, I can see no other reason for it not to be there, it only causes issues.

Won't post it unless the team say it won't be bannable for using it though, obviously.

So myself and the team are currently discussing this. Notably the Potting while holding shift. While I agree that the chat bar spam is a bug I firmly believe it is important to other classes than warrior's can not Pot while holding a lock on a player. It'll change PvP too much in a Warriors favour allowing them to concentrate fully on attacking other classes without the other player ever getting breathing space by making a warrior back off (as briefly as it might be) to pot

I expect this will spur some debate like it has in the team but I'd be up for banning players that use any app that allows them to pot and still hold a shift lock on a player. The chat bar spam bug can be fixed though

I think the problem with stuff like this is it opens up the door for other "mods"

For example its stupidly easy to create tools that will:

- Auto sun when your HP is below a certain amount
- Auto lock your last targeted player (great for ranged classes as it allows you to still run around but when you press a function key, ie F1 it will mouselock back to your last targeted player)
- etc etc

As already noted, it is far too easy at the moment to run macros and such that auto pot suns/tele's etc, and there are a large number of people clearly using these ingame.

Not to mention combat without keyboard remapping is fairly hand crippling at times using the shift key. I really don't get it, let us choose the key we want to use as lock and everybody benefits.
