Archer vs Wiz

Starting a newb, which is best Archer or Wiz and why?

Archer for massive single target damage with moderate aoe. Solo some bosses, expensive gear.

wizard for moderate single target damage with mass aoe damage. Solo very few bosses, cheap gear.

Both I'd say are equally useful when it comes to group bossing

harry makes good points about prices. survivability also can be a factor, a wizz thats good with his shield has 5x more chance of survival over a archer, but archers single damage is so much better.

So its balanced, but i prefer archer.

Never mind making a newb, go get your warrior to 40! :P

Both classes you picked out can level super quick to 40 though. The archer can borrow your warr kit though.

I have not given up on the warrior, just needed a change to be honest, he will get level 40......

Before I would have said make an archer but with the improvements to wizards I'm undecided.

I'm really enjoying wizard atm and whoever came up with the stop pet timer in sz deserves a medal.

My thoughts.

Archer = More powerful single target nuke, higher % of getting a pvp kill, better for pvp than pve.

Wiz, mass aoe damage, fun pet selections, more pvp assist ( until FF I guess) , fun mass killing, and TUing archers will enrich your life.

I have not given up on the warrior, just needed a change to be honest, he will get level 40......

Archer is poor until 38+ - if you are yet to get 40 on your warrior I can imagine you will struggle with the Archer.
Wizard is very good at the moment and there are a lot like you that have created a wiz so you will not be in short supply of a TS partner to boost your 30-42 levels.
You also have the option of Lightning and fwall in numas for some special exp.

I think Archer will be getting a nice buff in the ... months to come. so you could get ahead of the tide and make one now but there is no guarantee it will ever reach the potential an archer class should have.

That ship sailed I'm afraid to say. I am working on content for another game thus the Centurion had to return to Rome to free up my mind.
