X-Mir Bank system
The Idea
When moving from server to server, for whatever reason, how beneficial would it be if you could take your gold with you? To me, personally, the thought of never having to start a server on 0 gold again is actually rather appealing.
How does it work?
The bank itself is made up of a few rather complex systems, but it is nothing I can’t handle. I will go through these systems, and break them down as much as I can for you, the server owner or customer to give a full understanding of what is going on.
An exchange rate will be created between servers – A few things will be taken into consideration by our system before a server is issued a specific rate.
With the exchange rate now in place, we can now begin to transfer money from one server to another. Now different GMs will prefer everything to work in different ways, to compensate for this, I will offer as many combinations as possible to allow GMs to get involved or as the case may be, not get involved at all.
Note: To create an accurate and stable exchange rate, we will not implement a banking system to a server which is under 1 Month old, and we shall not create banks in servers that have user counts under 20 people.
Two ways to transfer money
1) Out of game money exchange
When a user enters our website, he/she will have to make an account, upon completion of this account, the user will be given a list of servers that are connected to the Xmir Bank. The user chooses a server, enters their login details, and poof, their 3 characters will appear with cash contents. They must do this between 2 servers before they can transfer any money. To transfer money, they would enter the server where the character has money, click on it, and choose the amount of money to transfer, choose the server to take it to and then their character on that server. So after 4 or 5 clicks of a button, you can have your gold waiting for you.
2) In Game money exchange
For GMs that do not want to give us login details (which we fully respect), the user must still make his/her account, but when they click on their server it will say “In game transactions only”. This means the user must login to their game and speak to our bank character active on each server. They must tell us how much they want to give, who to give to, and where, they must also quote their password to us. Once all is confirmed (and our system’s updated), the money can be accepted into our bank character.
Once on the other side, the character name, quoted from the previous server must speak to our bank character, quote the password and the withdrawal amount, now what happens next is up to the server owners.
Before I continue, allow me to tell you more about the bank character, these will be on every server which has been assigned an exchange rate to act as an information help desk at the very least, but also offering an investment scheme. You can deposit money into these characters which is then put in your ‘current account,’ you can withdraw this at any time and there is a 2% interest rate that gets paid into your account every month. You can withdraw your earnings at any point like an ATM without any charge. There will also be a high savers account at 3% per month; however you cannot withdraw this money for 3 months.
A) GM Involvement
If the owner chooses to be involved, a request is sent to the GM for X amount of money. The GM gives this to the Banker (for verification) and the banker then transfers that money to the character. Our systems are then updated and the transfer is now complete.
B) GM Uninvolved
On busy servers, GMs will not have time to do the above so we of course I have compensated for this as well. As stated above, characters will be able invest into our characters. This invested money, and money handed over due to people leaving to play other servers can be used to pay people joining the server that want their money from their previous server.
Note: The bank system will need testing to see if I can make it become a self profiting bank; if not then GMs will give money to cover our losses (which is a lot easier than doing the GM involvement scheme).
To finish, I have also noticed that there is a possibility of ID theft to the bank as people may attempt to access other peoples account details. This can be made impossible as our character will be wearing an item called XmirBank that will have 0 stats and will not be in any drop files.
If you are worried about a GM that could create a lot of money on a fake account, then send this money to other servers trying to ‘ruin’ their economy, please understand that this is impossible. The way our system works is that it will know if something like this is happening, and will cause the exchange rate of their own server to decline and the exchange rate on their enemies’ server to increase and thus advertising their enemy’s server for them. Just for clarity, even if money enters a server unnaturally, the economy stays the same as all items will still cost the same. A GM will not want to play an enemy’s server, so the money doesn’t actually go anywhere and therefore an issue our system still compensates for, but is not actually an issue when looking at the big picture.
This is something myself and a few loyal and IRL friends have been thinking about. We have thought about it enough to be willing to make it possible if the community requests it, and we have a full understanding if you would rather step away from the idea and keep to a working system. All constructive criticism is welcome and please feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks,
X-Mir

An exchange rate will be created between servers – A few things will be taken into consideration by our system before a server is issued a specific rate.
- The back bone of the rate is an advanced calculation concerning the amount of characters created, and how much gold they hold (All anomalies have been accounted for).
- We look at the amount of active users on the server.
- We will then look for any events which have occurred that will affect the reputation of that server.
- Finally we will look at the amount of gold imported and exported from the server.
With the exchange rate now in place, we can now begin to transfer money from one server to another. Now different GMs will prefer everything to work in different ways, to compensate for this, I will offer as many combinations as possible to allow GMs to get involved or as the case may be, not get involved at all.
