Why?

Because the thread it self was presented in a well constructed manner, regardless of the idea it still deserves feedback which is constructive. Another reason if you need it... forums are meant to discuss things.

Thanks guys, I have started absolutely no work on this idea for the simple reason I wanted to know what people thought of it. I want to help and improve mir, but I want to try and bring an external factor as I dont really want to own or code servers.

Smavid: Do you understand how an exchange rate system works? If someone wants to transfer 100000billion to another server, he is obviously not going to get that much. In that extreme situation, the player would be grateful if he/she got a few 1000 in their new server. If for example someone had 100000billion to transfer, but the exchange rate is showing that money is scarce on that server, it will refuse the exchange and make myself and the GM aware so I can find out why this person has so much money.

JamieM: When I was writting this up for Lomcn I did think that there is nothing for GMs to get out of this, the best thing I could suggest that a healthy stable exchange rate would be a good advertisement so people know that your server has a healthy economy. As the system will be able to monitor the amounts of gold people have, it can also be used as a detective for bug exploits. Players that are getting sharp increases in money will be flagged up so GMs can then find out where this person is to be making money. Those are the only reasons that come to mind, but as we develop the system and understand its capabilities, im sure there will be plenty more for server owners to be linked with our system.

I agree with the last point on smavids post, when he said If one player was the richest in one server, there is a good chance he would be well off to an extent on another server.
The idea in general could actually work.. if a stupid event was in the game where it gave out lots of money, then the value of the currency would go down, right?.. But the other main loop hole, is the fact that not every server owner would trust the next one. This idea could only be implimented in servers that have full trust of the community.. If the entire community embraced this idea, It could work... otherwise not so much.

Nice idea though..

The bottom line is it's a waste of time. If you actually have nothing better to do with your life, then at least put it to use on something more constructive and actually useful. This really is not it.

Ok I'll ask, how does it monitor gold in server? That's issue A. Issue B is how often does it monitor gold on each server, there could be some issues with a lag of 5 minutes or more and C post the formulae and let us see how accurate it is, noone is going to steal the idea, as quite frankly, we all think it's terrible

i can say from own knowledge that self with trusting server owners it NOT work. I Trust much owners here i would try it if my own part would not tell me its crap.

As much of you knows or maybe remember i had the Amenon~Server .....Me and Falador another Serverowner that worked not before together....made a Fusion. Hims server was the Red~Dragon~Server.... At the end of the story we had trouble to find a way how my players and hims can get together without beeing unfair to one side. From our Opinion we found a good way.... but now you can think what happend... players from my side left and players from hims side left....and not only a handfull.

That is Fact :(

If i had the idea to do that (What i am NOT) i would trust Sting Server, Illusion Server, Olymp Server and self Zentaur Server and some others

But hey Think about that now with 2 servers it was trouble ...if we took now 4 servers it would be impossible to find a way to trade Gold between servers unimportant to what rate or else.

Only now my 2 Cents now kill me :P

EDIT: OHHH btw i know its mir2 Section before someone cry all servers i said are mir3..but it makes no diffrent if mir2 or mir3 it work nowhere!

A) If I did not know how to do it, I would not have posted it on here. If people wanted gold monitoring however, my system would require almost full access to the sql database. The only problem with this is I will only know how to do this on sql databases. For servers that use databases like .db (FH) for example, I would have to create some kind of translation script so the 2 systems can communicate.

B) Gold monitoring would work as frequently as the GMs would like, as far as I am aware, it should not cause any lagg at all for dedicated servers, however, I am not sure what it will be like on people hosting on their wireless laptop for example lol.

C) Its not just a formulae, there will be dependences on incomes and outcomes, brand name (to name a few). But I will see what I can do, as I agree that this is a failed idea, and I am not ashamed to admit it because now I can start working on another idea to post here.
