How. Isnt it peoples choice to smoke.

I personally feel that banning smoking in a pub is plane stupid. People go to pubs to socialise. Alot of people smoke. I personally do.
Im legally allowed too its not a illegal habbit.

So now were being told we cant smoke and socialise at the same time.

Surely this is a form of Discrimination?

We cant discriminate against Disabilities, Races, We are disciplined at schools for discriminating against the smart or the obese.

Surely This is a form of discrimination against Smokers?

There is also talk about the fact that employers could use the fact a individual smokes to justify not giving them a job.

Surely the world is turning into a fked up place.

They mite aswell ban it.

If you had any brains, you would know a little thing called "second hand smoking". It kills the same as if you yourself were smoking. So basicly even if your friends do not smoke, if they are around you, their still intaking the smoke. So I say if you want to smoke, do it in our own home and away from the population.

I am a smoker but agree it would be better for everyone if smoking was banned in most public places. Pubs could then be divided into non smoking and smoking ones, then its up to the individual if they would like to be polluted or not.

No, you're being told you can't smoke inside public places, which makes perfect sense. Want a smoke? Go outside.

That argument has nothing to do with the ban on public smoking, that has to do with employment laws in your country.

FYI by the way, smokers cost companies a hell of a lot more than a non-smoking eployee.

So what choice do non-smokers have then? Surely, they should be able to enjoy socializing without having to put up with the smokey environments caused by someone elses choice.

Of course it's not. As you said previously, smoking is a choice. People can stop smoking, they can't, however, stop being disabled or stop being black, or asian, or caucasian for example.

At my workplace we have three smokers. They usually take around 4 'fag breaks' per day each lasting around 10 minutes. That's 40 minutes per day that they're not working. That's like a second lunch break. Not only that but when they come back in they stink of smoke. Why should an employer pay a smoker, who takes more time out during the day to go smoke, than a non-smoker who won't?

Yes, definately. You can't force your own bad habits on another person. All this ranting about descrimination or truncation of freedom of choice is bullshiz. Your argument would automatically be refuted because you neglect the other side's (that's to say non-smoker's) rights.

To be honest, I say find a median - let pubs decide (and give them propper power to enforce it). That way you can go smoke yourself to death with other buddies, whilst those who don't want to smoke can go to non-smoking bars. I know this is already an option, but I've found there isn't any strong legal backing for restaurants/bars to enforce it.

I am a smoker and tbh it will proly help me cut down or even stop. If it was to ban smoking full stop exsept your home I would have to vote agenst but on this one Im voting Yes

But i think it should defo be banned in places like restaurants and eating places. But i aint really sure about pubs, because most people who go to pubs seem to smoke anyway. But doesnt really bother me
