Can't your pc overheat if you have extra lights if you don't have a good enough fan?

i always liked AMD's. but since i got my duel 3.2 p4 proccessors iv really started to like pentium.

@kane - there would be no point in getting a 64-bit because no software supports it yet. if you get it now, by the time software uses 64-bit the proccessor will be slow.

Actually, I think you'll find that all the P4s get owned by the AMD64s regardless of clock speed.

I cannot find the image of the benchmarks but the top 5 processors were all AMD64s.

In photoshop AMD64 wins in all 3 categories, low end, medium, and high.
In Premiere the P4 just get's stomped.
In most of Roxio's products the P4 comes out on top by a lot.
In audio/video encoding P4 slightly has the upperhand.
In gaming AMD can't be touched.
In rendering the P4 most of the time has the upper hand.
In workstation stuff AMD usally has the upperhand in each category (low end etc) but AMD takes the cake in visual studio and maya.

Now of course this is P4 5xx/EE vs AMD64 754/939, so I guess you can argue that the P4 6xx does a lot better, but then you would be lying to yourself. The only nice improvements you see is its ability to definitely keep up in most rendering situations, everything else pretty much the same.

Doing the average UK price check, AMD64 3500+ 2.2GHZ s939 Winchester 177 pounds vs P4 650 3.4GHZ LGA775 261 pounds.... I think everyone can do the math on that one.

The way he's set his specs up, it looks to me like he's going to be using it primarily for gaming.
In which, as you said, the AMD64 can't be touched. It's exactly why I have one :yyyipe:

Actually, according to PC Pro UK, the top P4 6XX performs worse than the P4 5XX.....

Not in gaming, my friend works @ a local shop and basically we get to mess around with anything, in our tests the P4 660 was on par with the P4 570 and only in some old DX7/8 was the P4 660 slightly (1-3%) under the P4 560, but it won in all the new games.

EDIT

Although I'll tell ya, as an OC'er I would love to mess around with some of intel's stuff, and am definitely looking foward to maybe getting the P-M with the alviso chipset (sp)
