Bluehost ? Anyone use ?

Hi.
Has anyone had experience of BlueHost as a host. Their price looks good but what about their reliability. If I'm in England and used them to host a Mir server, would the ping be too high between me and them as I assume they're state side.
Any one any views ?

I have used blueHost for 2 years and need to point a few things out:

You mentioned running a Mir2 Server, by this do you mean the web site/forum for one or the actual Game itself? If you meant the Latter then i am happy to report this is a Web hosting package not a Dedicated Server.

I have recently closed my account and got a refund as it goes as they are cramming WAY too many people per box (1000-1200 per server) and have lowered the CPU Limits which if you use too much, your site goes offline - so read into this Coppermine Gallery, Any Download Scripts etc...

Support *used* to be brilliant, you send a Support ticket and it got Answered, not it takes weeks if they even answer at all. They also used to have a Live Chat online but this has gone walk-abouts as well. They went from 15GIG web Space to 30 GIG and then to 50GIg so fast that i was still on 15 GIG unless I put in a Support ticket, which i did and whoa - still 15GIG.

I signed up for a Monitoring Site to see how often my site would go offline and I got about 4-6 Emails a Day saying it had gone offline.
if all you are using it for is Holding Files and have nothing fancy on there - then $7.95 per Month (its only $6.95 if you pay in advance for 2 years) is not bad I support but I can show you sites which have 170GIG Space for the same price !!!!

Give you a better idea but the Mods tend to remove anything bad when they get a chance !!!

I meant both a site and the game but I'll leave well alone. I already use another firm for hosting my sites and they are very good. It was the price that made it attactive as it is $1.87 for a pound at which makes it very cheap for me. But if the service is erratic then its not worth it, even at that price.

Sure its worth it. If you sign up after clicking on the banner at the top, i get $65 aparently! Altho if the service is bad i might remove that banner, despite how nice the return is.

Well for example this host:

my Thoughts on bluehost were simple - 6 months ago i would have said get them no matter what as the package cannot be beaten but of course a people came and kept signing up, they started to get overloaded. They had to lower the CPU time on Scripts in order to keep all the sites alive (Shared Hosting see). If you are not a heavy user of Scripts or expect the site to be too popular, then I would still say go for it, as I am keen to run various PHP stuff it was of no use to me.

As for people clicking that link (so DF gets some hard cash) - it is paid out once you have so many Signed up via that link, I still have money sitting there which they wont give me until more sign up in a given time or something, so not such a good idea.
