What version do you have? I have such a crack supplied with my Ultimate version. You can use updates with it too - just not window authentication.

Bootup is about as fast as xp, only problems I've had so far was with the side bar, when i was making changes to it, it would take up 95%+ CPU usage for about 5-10seconds. Nothing major though. At the moment I only have vista installed and nothing else, so I can't test it fully.
My 6200 has something pathetic like 64mb onboard memory, and uses 256mb system memory through the PCI express connection.
I assume any graphics card above my spec will run vista smoothly

The windows vista upgrade advisor recommends I get Vista Business so it looks like system is okay.. Don't like the idea of it using 15gb of space though (80gb HardDrive its a laptop..) But the current copy of XP that I have at the moment seems to be taxing the graphics card a bit too damn much and svchost seems to like randomly using up all my CPU (Its theme related I beleive but cant really be bother to find the root cause)
I might finally get around to re-networking with my dad's system and using his bigger HardDrive to store files.
I can easily free up 15gb though all I need to do is remove WoW lol which me and my brother don't play and install that 6gb ps2 game onto my PS2 HardDrive.
I'll see what I'll be doing when the ultimate edition is finally posted on usenet

don't buy it... buy the upgrade instead...
you can install upgrade version on a new system:
install without the product key
run the dvd again in windows vista to run the upgrade
enter product key there
then you can still choose clean install
save money that way.

Just installed vista ultimate Takes a bit longer to start but is very smooth ^_^
I only get a 2.1 on the index but thats only because the cpu is only reconignised as 798mhz when it is infact over 2ghz (AMD Athlon 64 3700+)

i was thinknig about upgrading...as my laptop came with a free vista upgrade thingy that i can get...i'm still not really convinced by it all...if i ugpraded to Vista i'd have to reinstall all my games etc. wouldn't i?
well i brought the package the day it come out, not a tite arse you see, OS is onething , i wont get cracked, due to microsoft making the software, im sure theres something in there,
