IMO this is a great idea, would provide the team with a more balanced overview to sort out the balance issues.

only reason people would be on the server with all spells is cause its easy and they would play purely for pk nothing more.

The whole mir item/spell/spell leveling system is a bit dated on mir, it could do with a nice revamp

They would play for the same reason people have always played Mir, and it isn't to hunt books lol.

I voted yes! definitely! all players should have a full skill set if they put in enough time and effort instead of playing a lottery and hoping it drops from a boss which you could be doing for months!!! its ridiculous that a lot of skills not even 1 book has dropped in 4+ months server has been up for. what is point not having these skills? when server is dying we will end up dead server but ppl still wont have had chance to use and have fun with all their skills seems pointless to me :S

In Your Opinion.

+1

And the fact that Samuel can code whatever he wants into these files. He could end up making a boss that requires a lot of tactics, then introduce spells required to kill them(interrupts)

I would play a server with all my spells for the sole reason of acquiring equipment, something that every MMO now does.

When/If Sam does start introducing places kind of like BDD, a big dungeon with multiple bosses as you progress through then he would be following the way traditional MMOs do, your play to equip your character in the best gear available, which is the part I actually find fun about all MMOs, including Mir.

Mir is the only game where actually grinding normal mobs I enjoy, cause of that small chance at rare items. Ofcourse bosses should always be the best place for items, and I would even be happy if they introduced new items that only bosses dropped, perhaps a set of items with a bonus to stats when you have every peice.

This would keep the top guilds happy cause they will always be the ones in the top equipment, and the solo/lower guilds would still very much enjoy themselfs.

One of the things i love about mir is you can go from being a nobody to being that guy with a sowg, or a HA, or FF with "a bit" of luck. You can go from being a clone like everyone else to being someone who stands out....and rare spells can be one of those ways that people stand out.

That being said...with the current obsession on class balance, i can understand how its an almost impossible task to do if people dont have easy-ish access to all skills.

Only the hardcore players will vote against this and they're a minority, really you should be focusing on the casual group of players because they make up the numbers on this Server plus every other MMO's and they all do the same, cater to the casuals. It seems unfair I know on the hardcore but not everyone can stay at home all day and play games whilst others have to work, don't be so selfish and think of others who can't put in the time.

I can't see why this would unbalance things, if anything it would balance the classes more as this would benefit EVERYONE not just casual players. The reason why it's so unbalanced at the moment is because we don't have access to all our core spells.

I can see why people would vote against it because they want to feel special and stand out amongst the crowd but you can do that with gear, people just don't like competition and like to have an advantage against the majority and like to dominate, this ruins servers.
So what if every Wizard will have FlameField, so what if every Taoist will have Curse, it'll be an even playing field, it'll happen eventually anyway so why delay the inevitable?
At the moment people are taking advantage of how weak Wizards are by steamrolling them with no hassle, so the thought of every Wizard having FlameField scares them because to them it would be "overpowered". It's like saying not every Warrior should have TDB because that is one of a Warriors core abilities and at level 32 AND it's spammable, which it never used to be.

People say they've "worked hard" for their high level spells, I've never heard so much rubbish, yeah people have put in the hours but that's your choice to spend all day doing nothing but playing a game. If you're spending all day playing a game that you get enjoyment out of it's not exactly "working hard" for it, it's not a job, try actually working a proper job and see what hard work is.

There are always going to be two opinions of ideas like this and like people have said before its between the hardcore players and the "couple hours of night" players

Hardcore players are not going to like it due to the fact that theyve made so much effort to have what they have already and find the spells off the mobs that they have killed so they're going to always go against it

The people who play a couple of hours a night are going to LOVE this idea due to the fact that they can keep up with everyone and actually have a chance at killing people with these spells and taking over the walls with their guilds.

You have to remember that if it takes a long time to actually create these books then they may not actually be able to use the books due to level etc

I personally think its a good idea as it gives us a chance to actually kill people using spells, yes its going to take time for the spells to be balanced with damage etc but atleast we'd be able to test these? With literally a minimum of books available its a challenge to be able to test but if there are alot of books and people are using them then it gives the devs team a good chance to balance them and sort them about??

Who knows what could happen, it could be a good idea for the server and if it doesn't work out they can always remove the system?

I do assume that if this book crafting system was implemented that it wouldn't completely dominate the source of books...
I am getting the feeling that's what some people are thinking.
Just because they will be craftable, doesn't mean that they will be piss easy to get. Hell, it could take days, weeks or months to farm the mats for one recipe, which then fails when you do go to craft!!!
As said before, it could just be a way for the little guy to grind a book instead of killing top end bosses.

I don't play anymore so you may ignor my suggestion but this wouldn't make me return, it doesn't change anything from the current system you have for skills which is drops from bosses, you have to farm bosses or monsters to get a skill, this new idea you have to farm monsters/bosses for mats to craft the skill... exactly the same process and it's bloody boring.

My suggestion would be give people the skills when they reach the level, it's simple and it works, no messing about and i could imagine it bringing some of your old players back.

I would rather this too, but I have a feeling way too many people would moan :(

Sounds like a good idea and i hope it gets implemented so it works out for the sever.

If every one has access to all their skill balancing would be easier but there are a lot more issues that need fixing first tho like op tiger necklace that negate caster spells... I cant believe this still hasn't been sorted out.

Mir was always about hunting for your kit. Everyone who starts playing it again knows that. Other mmogs are different. This is Mir2.
Now that the drop files are changed leave it alone for a while. See how it works out before you make changes.
If you are going to let ppl craft skills then make it so the crafted version cant be used til a level or so later and cant be levelled as soon.
If you want a server where you get all your skills easily play a high rate or some of the med rates.
You are all still here anyway arent you? Even without your skills.

This idea sounds like a good one, but if its grindy i cba with it! was bad enough collecting threads for the 40 armors or getting the white gold set etc

i was against putting all skills in the book shop at first but since im bored of the content with nowt new to do! i wouldnt mind them being put in shops, 2.0 skills are coming but we gotta wait for them to drop and im betting they going to be about as common as all the spells we dont have right now :(

but ill be honest! im saying put them in shops again for selfish reasons, im bored of the server and couldnt care about the long term! i want fun now!
