Mir was always about hunting for your kit. Everyone who starts playing it again knows that. Other mmogs are different. This is Mir2.
Now that the drop files are changed leave it alone for a while. See how it works out before you make changes.
If you are going to let ppl craft skills then make it so the crafted version cant be used til a level or so later and cant be levelled as soon.
If you want a server where you get all your skills easily play a high rate or some of the med rates.
You are all still here anyway arent you? Even without your skills.

Doesn't have to be a high rate when having all spells. A low rate with all spells would work well, infact I think it would end up a hugely successful server if it was done that way, they could concentrate on balance, content and equipment.

And please don't say "This is Mir2", cause Mir doesn't have to be like euro, infact the most success servers I remember were mostly fun servers with everything revamped.

Lastly a lot of the people replying to this thread are ones who have realised it can be a rather boring server and are not too interested in returning, especially now the C# files are doing well and some servers are now being created using them. If you want this server to stay populated and be successful in the private server community, then it needs to be different to euro. Exactly what DK and Ben look like they are doing.

U add nothing to this thread by this post. B4 ppls saying the same. Just click pool and leave.

Look at big guilds. They all walk with blue arms and full set of skils. Rest of server still 40 lvl arms and no 40+ skils.

Not that I can see they dont. Not enough poisonclouds arrow barrages have even dropped to make this true. Didnt sincity get "your boss" yesterday?
Didnt everyone slag off Apex for having numbers . Maybe you should be called ApexII
.
Everyone with all skills on a low rate with good kits is euro last couple years.
There wasnt anything else to do except turn up for an OKS fight. EM was fked cos exploits. People were soloing everything else.
If skills are rare people have a reason to boss hunt with the odd random ordinary mob drop. With peak numbers at 200 and 14 boss killed regularly and 3 that are yet to be killed regularly plus EM I doubt any one guild can do all of them at peak time

If skills are not rare, but good gear and gems are, people still have a reason to hunt. Hell, you could even just add rare pretty mounts to boss drops, people would hunt the **** out of EM/OKS/anything for that.

Also, by the time your smaller guild gets to, say, IZT only to see that they're on farm by TKO and then tries to go for, I don't know, BL or EE, TKO probably cleared IZT and already beat them to it with a bit of tele luck.

P69 was a wildly successful (high rate, to be fair) server, where everyone had all the skills (levelled to 3) within an hour of creating their first char. Never hurt the server in any way, people just grind for levels/items/mats to wear the cool gear/refine/what have you.

If you look at most ofther MMOs, skills are generally automatically generated at the lvl you can use this. This open up more content to more people. You still get the wow factor form kit - but a lot of the endgame stuff can be opened up by people having the skills. Im all for them being craftable to open it up to more people.

I would say yes aslong as the crafted skills were char bound? You either use it or destroy it ya know?

I thought this was implied, since it's thought of as a method for individuals that would not be able to participate in high-end boss kills to get the skills.

Craftable skills is a great idea. But I don't think they should be the same as skills you obtain by normal methods.

You could make loads of them.

I dont like this.
I know people think they are entitled to all the skills for their class and almost that they have right to get them straight away as soon as they are the right level. I would prefer the drops to right. I think they probably are right now but it will take a while for enough good stuff to drop that people can see that they will get what they want.
If the drops had been better adjusted at the start there would be a lot more of the better items around already. I a lilttel while it will all look better.
If you go ahead with this then make the book not trade able.

Perhaps limit crafted skills to level 1/2 if they are not going to be difficult to obtain. Learning areal book could unlock level3?

Also I like the idea of questing for skills instead.. That way you can set a level restriction as to when a player can start

Skills can be duplicated, adjusted and renamed, made craftable. I'd make them less effective than the normal ones tho. The variants can go into the 100s.

As a cop-out for obtaining normal skills tho, no.

Just an idea but it would be cool to have a quest chain for spells similar to fate quest ( obviously alot harder) at the end of the chain u r temporarily given the spell to complete a challange to show your mastery of it.

Wizards get ff and have to clear a huge amount of monsters in x amount of time.

Warriors get pro wall and have to survive an onslaught for x amount of time.

If u r successful the skill will stay on ur skill list if not it is removed. This also gets around the problem of ppl cashing in on crafting a load of books.

Not keen on this at all. Make the craftable ones somehow less good than the real ones and if you get a real one you can replace it on yr skill list ready levelled maybe. Or limit the craftable ones to level 2 or something. And make them not tradeable sellable droppable. Everyone wants everything right now and it just isnt fair for the ones that are hopelessly addicted, spend huge amounts of time in game hunting bosses.
I dont mind the pay irl cash people getting stuffed.

Dont wste time on it then, scrap it and put books in shops. Books sell for stupid amounts of money, more than weapons!
Players have done the work by attaining the required lvl, it would also balance the game more if players had ALL skills available to them when they reach the required lvl.
As it stands now players can go lvls and lvls beyond the requirement and still not have a chance of getting it.
