Hey all.
Wanted to get some other players thoughts on the experience rates here. This is not a thread attempting to get OMG 10X RATES! But rather have some reasoned thoughts on if it should change.
Some of you may not know that the exp needed to level doubles at level 44, this in conjunction with the fact that the rates are set somewhere around 1.5X official rates leads to the conclusion that the server is in fact an even lower rate server than euro. If you played ace then the comparison would be that ace was 6.7X the rate that it is here after 44 and most people will still no where close to 56.
Given that the CURRENT content goes to level 56 or 57 (highest level items and level 3 of some spells) I did the math somewhere else and it looked something like this. " To give you a really general ideal you need something like 5-6 billion exp for level 56. If we give someone a generous average of 2 million exp per hour. You end up with 4000 hours worth of leveling. If you take a player who does nothing but level 2 hours per day it will take them 2000 days to level (5.5 years or leveling every single day) if its someone who levels 40 hours a week as a full time job? It will still take them 1.9 years of level as a full time job. Now sure there are exceptions, get really good gear maybe you can level 4 times as fast....The casual player will max out the CURRENT content (not added content, but the content that is already in the game) in 500 days of straight leveling. "
Two things, firstly Sam today mentioned that some of the classes are "balanced" based on skills that are not maxed until level 56, this would then indicate that the classes will forever be unbalanced as no one, and especially not anyone close to the average, will reach this level.
Secondly I truly appreciate the work Sam and the others have put into this server, it seems a shame that at the current rate no one will be able to enjoy it. This goes especially true for the content being added in 2.0, hopping that people will actually get to enjoy playing it.
PS for those that think "but look there is already a level 46." Keep in mind that they have publicly announced that they have a problem and addiction that lead them to playing way to much resulting in the sale of there character and quitting. (level 46 is no where even close to 56 for those who don't know how exp goes up per level in mir)
