One option would be to use layers.

Insert, Layout Objects, Layer

Then you can stick your buttons, text or whatever in different layers, which you could move whereever you want. Whether that's any good for what you're wanting to do is another matter, but that should do the job.

erm.....
i cant remember the name of it , but u can make shapes over images and give it a link.
Its better then layers , god don't do layers.
Real sorry ive forgotten the name of it but look around ,
you can also make custom shapes over it , like dot to dot and then its just like a hyperlink but a shape (note the shape is actually invisible on the page).

suppose your going to have to do layers ... or use a table, give the table a Background (of ur image ) then u can whack in your text.

is there anything similar to dreamweaver, but simpler to use? im having great difficulty with fonts, adding buttons, and text boxes.

i can get them on ok, but getting them to go where i want them is another matter.

There's a sister prog that goes with Dreamweaver and its called Fireworks. This is idea for what you want to do.
The two progs are often bundled together.

You could easily do what you want using Dreamweaver by creating a table and have the image set as the table background and then add the text into the table. You could add rows and columns to the table to help with the text layout. Highlight any text and insert a hyperlink url and the highlighted text will become a link.

What version of DW are you using ?
