The item has the drop chance not the mob, the mob only counts as a “location” that counts towards said drop counter
Example:
Guru archer: 1/70k drop elite book
Guru soldier: 1/75k drop elite book
Guru oma: 1/80k drop elite book
Assuming that every mob has a different drop, I can not get my drop guaranteeing killing mixeds mobs.
If i kill 69,999 Omas and 1 Archer i cant get guaranteed 1/70k drop. This is my point.
It's shared between any mob that has that book in its dropfile.
Example:
Guru archer: 1/70k drop elite book
Guru soldier: 1/75k drop elite book
Guru oma: 1/80k drop elite book

If I read Jamie's post right your guaranteed drop is linked to the item and not the mob.
For example, say you want a copper ring so you go kill Omas, cats and scarecrows.
They all have a different chance to drop a copper ring so say,
Omas have 1/50(only example rates)
Cats have 1/75
Scarecrows have 1/100
So with a new character your guarantee counter for copper rings would be at 0%, every kill will add to that counter in proportion to the drop rate of that mob so kill an Oma you add 0.02%, Cats 0.0133% and Scarecrows 0.01%. Kill any combination of those that add up to 100% and if you haven't had it drop already then you will get your guaranteed drop.
