ive not used this before but HAS to be used in my new system.

do the requrements have to include a "matched" pair of moddules i.e. they have to use the same CAS latency same voltage ect. ne 1 know? ty

Dual channel never HAS to be used, but it improves performance a lot (A64 s939 and Pentium 4 especially). The general rule is get a matched pair (or really two of the same modules). If you run 2 different modules, you could have problems/ it could lower your performance. If you use two different ones, you would have to set the latency to the slowest module. As for voltage, almost all ram operates in that 2.6-2.75 range, and even if you set both to 2.85 it wouldn't matter.

What motherboard? A dual channel kit isn't anymore expensive than a single module 512 vs 2x256 etc.

will be using a dual xeon board which requires dual channel purely for the reason that the max ram speed supported is 333 and the highest cpu fsb is 533 so can use either ram 266/333 or a 400/533 fsb cpu.

It doesn't REQUIRE dual channel. What board do you have, the asus pc-dl?
