it gives the 2 possible fixes for startimer exception.

i know from personal experience you can stare and stare at something and not see something obvious, maybe take a break and come back to it.

the map location indicated in setup! is that the location of the maps folder or mapinfo.txt? because it should be to mapinfo.txt

erm its map folder as i thought that was what it was sposed to be :S As thats what it states there and I always followed that guide.

http://www.sting3g.com/idaBigA/lssetupguide/GateSetup.htm

So it should be C:\Mud3\Envir\ ??? Just wondering as I just set it as that and it doesn't work, still got the starttimer exception.

I know that DBSVR has to be pointing to mapinfo.txt but thought !setup.txt was the map folder itself :S

TOP BOX : Server name

BOTTOM BOX : this is the location to your MAPINFO.TXT File - NOT- the Maps - important part this...

Thats where it all is basically. But yeah, doesn't seem to work even with that right in !setup.txt, is it right that if you have map's in your map folder that aren't on mapinfo.txt it will cause starttimer exception?? I know if there are maps on mapinfo.txt that are missing from data folder it comes up that the maps are missing and not starttimer?

Hummm reli lost, tried rewriting !setup.txt about 15-20 times now and still not working, get same exception :(

tried everything with gates, checked ip addresses, port numbers, firewall is disabled so that aint the issue, ports are forwarded from router to server pc, server name looks to be in all the right places, setup.txt looks fine, stres3g looks fine, but even with all that looking ok, and all the gates open etc, still can't get past RunGate.

Ok the SQL server name is displaying as \\HOME-96E20AA2DA or something like that. Would that cause a problem even though OBDC is properly configured to that server name?

well at a complete loss as to what the problem is, can't seem to get the gates working at all. just gonna try and take a break from it, personally its depressing me way too much not being able to get it back online. Might just see if anyone is looking for help with a mir server and see if they wanna use any the work i've done so it don't go to waste :(

EDIT: Fixed, was a database problem with Game3G
