Okay so iv been suffering from chronic lag spikes since server started. Before i blab on too long, iv never had any problems with any Mir server in the past, played probably 10 or more private servers extensively more often than not at the highest level. Iv been very quick on all of these servers as people who have played with me will know so, the lag i experience on this server is a one off and unlikely to be my end (Albeit possible). Also, the setup im on runs other games perfectly fine, League Of Legends etc..

Iv tried a number of ways to try a fix this problem;

Clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate,
Services uneccesary for the running of Mir stopped,
SmartClose,
Razer Gamebooster,
Even IOBit Gamebooster,
WTFast,
Leatrix Latency Tweak,
Manual TcpAckFreq,
Disabled Nagles Algorithm,
Set to higher affinity,
Tried both wireless and wired connection,
Tried connection in different locations (Different house, to eliminate a router problem etc)
Clean install of cleint,
Among other things like the common Mir tweaks and acheiving FPS cap.

And yet, still spiking sometimes as low as every 10 seconds for as long as 3 seconds per spike. Basically the game is unplayable for me now, hunting in Orcs or in a fight you just cant be stood still for 3 seconds without dying.

All of this being done, i cant find any reason why i would be spiking, until.... I looked at the DataGraph that is built into WTFast. Data Sent/Received is all low and steady until i spike, at which point the Data Received goes sky high. Which makes me think the server is sending me packets of data for unknown reasons, asif its dossing me.

I read on another thread that this server checks movement and actions etc alot faster and more frequently than other Mir engines, and this points me to think that could be the problem for the spikes, and potentially the lag outs that other users are encountering.

By all means im no expert on coding or whatever, but havent seen any detailed feedback on these problems so thought id share mine as i seem to be the worst affected by this that iv came across.


As seen below the Data Received spikes are when the game freezes, the ping is steady over the 10minute test other than that one spike. The top graph shows 13, argueably 15 spikes in 10 minutes.

Id like to add that i never lag out, or experience 2 step lag, just the spikes.

I use a cheap lappy with win7 home, 3mb dl 0.5mb ul.
I don't seem to get this problem.
If the server is sending large amounts of data then it cant be sending them to me or I would surely notice.
Hopefully when Sam gets back he will be able to track down if and why the server sends these packets to certain players.

I've been getting 3-5 second lag the last few days and its hella deadly when fighting or bossing. Last night it conveniently happened in iwt x3 and on orc 3rd.

I had no lag and am still speed capped and non laggy 99% of the time...bit that's a killer

Not sure for trolli but no for me. I play in windowed mode aswell nothing crazy just wtfast and win ult x64

Iv not minimised or switched applications no, also tried playing in Windowed mode and full screen.

First thing I would like to determine is whether or not this is network lag or completely self contained on your computer.

Although you are indeed receiving spikes/peaks in data, they are however, incredibly small and I wouldn't expect peaks like this to effect your gameplay.

It is also worth mentioning that Chronicles has a completely different graphical engine to any other set of files and uses a mixture of more than one Windows timer (the second of which was introduced in Windows 7+)... So many of the traditional "Mir Tweaks" will have the opposite effect on this server.

In actual fact I would recommend a vanilla Windows 7 Home installation (I have encountered a number of Mir and non Mir related issues with Ultimate/Enterprise and from my experiences wouldn't recommend it), with no tweaks.

Can you describe what happens when you "lag" are you able to open up any of the interface attributes (ie your states window/bag) or has the client completely frozen at this point?

It completely freezes.Also, i played on Windows 7 Home Premium, and recently upgraded to Ultimate to see if it helped. I played with, and without tweaks. I only started to play with tweaks etc in an effort to fix the spikes, to no avail.While the data packets are low, they are when the game is freezing. x

I get the same issue, I don't get them as often now but when I do it's like 5 secs+ of the game just completely freezing, can't do anything or open anything up.
It always just so happens to occur when luring in PT TSing, broke stones and rings because of this :(

I guess it worth checking out the Logs/ directory for anything with a timestamp close to when this happens... Potentially the client is hitting an unhandled error... Although the fact that this doesn't happen to everyone makes it sound more of an environment issue.

Try using TCP Optimizer.

make sure you select the speed your recieving from your iSP and click CUSTOM (radio button) before applying / restarting,
